Vicki!! - - - Grrrrrrr!!!
« on: April 02, 2002, 09:52:27 AM »
Well, we all comment on how dumb she has become - but today was beyond belief.  After all this time, it takes Peter asking her how she would react in 1968 if someone from the future came back, and comparing this to her situation, before she suddenly does a double take and "gets it" and says how "foolish" she has been!!!!  Wowie!!  It's actually dawning on her what the situation is?!!!!!

And then, he comments that she can't be expected to understand them.  But, that's wrong.  Aside from the fact that almost anyone going back would have some idea of what things were like back then, and try to fit in, in this case she's a teacher!  Presumably history is one of the subjects she teaches David.  She should have a pretty good idea of what it what.

All right, so her knowledge of history would cause her to be surprised to find belief in witches still existing at the end of the 18th century, but, having discovered that it does exist, her knowledge of history should also give her a clue about what it's like and suggest how she should react to it!!!!

Hi Josette, I know what you mean. I mean the shock of being thrown back into time should have well worn off by now you would think. ?!? She should have just stuck with the accident story, like Jeremiah had told her to do from the beginning. This way at least her "odd" behaviour could have been explained. If she had only kept her predictions to herself, perhaps she wouldn't have looked so bad in the eyes of others. Considering the time period she was in, you would think she would know better, but I guess not. ::)

I don't think that was the stupidest thing Victoria has done in 1795. The stupidest thing she has done so far IMO is run out of her room with the 'fire' in it right to Reverand Trask. Couldn't she have gone to ANOTHER room say somewhere far enough to not be in danger if the 'fire' spread?

I think she is just not thinking before she speaks. I think she's hoping they'll be like Naomi and Barnabas, who believed her. Now it's finally dawned on her that the duPres aren't going to be listening to her.

It should be interesting about what Barnabas & Ben are going to be doing concerning Victoria...

I agree! I'm actually willing to cut Vicki a little slack as far as her telling the truth about the future. For one thing, she did try to stick by her story of being in a carriage accident, coming from Boston, etc. even after she was jailed (gaoled?). But when Judge Matigan tried to construct a defense for her she realized it was hopeless - no witnesses could vouch for her story.

I'd be darn well tempted to tell the truth too if I went back into the past like that, and try to save some lives I knew were about to be lost. Especially if I had a book like that as evidence. Too bad Vicki wasn't wearing a wristwatch or carrying a Bic lighter or something as further proof she's from the future.

All I can say about Vicki is that I think Midnite and the MB need to rename this emoticon [bnghd] after Vicki.

Too bad Vicki didn't carry her purse with her.  Just think she could have brought asprin, might have helped Sarah or at least Naomi's handover.  Just think what fun she could have had explaining what she would have kept in her purse.

Has anyone ever read the book "A Knight in Shinning Armor"?   It is a romance novel.  Very funny about a woman who goes back in time.  A nice light read.  I do like the time travel thing.

I quite agree that running into Trask's arms is the dumbest (or amongst the dumbest!) thing she did.  But I was kind of blown away about this sudden realization of her situation when Peter finally spelled it out for her!!

spoilers

I totally agree Josette I can see a problem if you travel to the future but she should have some clue about life in 1795. Julia did quite well in 1897 even convincing them she was an MD which wasn't a small feat. Vicki
did lead a sheltered life but the word CLUELESS was made for her!!! she marries Jeff Clark doesn't she??
