First off, I am THRILLED  [santa_grin] that the entire DS music library [82e4] is going to be released next year in a multi-CD collection.  But there are about 300 cues already available on the 4 CDs currently in release.  Does anyone know how many music cues Cobert composed for the show?  And how many CDs will be in the collection?  Brian

Where did you hear this?  I haven't heard anything about it.

ISTR that the show's numbered cues make it somewhere up into the 700s - obviously the ad break stingers account for a lot of that, but it'll be great to finally have the entire library in one neat package, rather than higgledy-piggledy across a stack of CDs.

I imagine the price tag on this will be somewhat hefty. I'd better put my wallet on a diet to get it in shape for the event. [santa_cheesy]

I wonder if they will ever make a CD set of the music from the '91 series.  I thoroughly enjoyed that soundtrack.  Much of the music was from the original, but updated, plus there were also some brand, new melodies.

Some of the 1991 score is on the Nightstalker CD.  Since we are going to end up not getting the 1991 on DVD, I have a feeling it's going to not happen.  But never know, it's cheaper to come out with a score then a DVD.

I'm with Stuart, out with higgledy-piggledy and in with neat and tidy.  (Good thing I had all this shelving done this summer.)

It depends on what kind of phone you have, but it's a do it yourself thing. For some phones, you can buy a USB cable and accompanying software to put your own ringtones on the phone or you can use an online service such as mbuzzy.com to convert wav and mp3 files to ringtones rather than relying on the standard stuff that's made available to everyone.

Hey, gang--here's the reply from MPI to an email I sent last week.

This title is slated to be made available for pre-order in early spring 2005.  It will only be available to members of the Dark Shadows DVD Club initially.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Hi.  I don't mean to bother y'all, but I'm curious if you could tell me the release date for the CD collection I've read about featuring all the music cues from DARK SHADOWS.  If that date isn't available, please don't waste your time replying, but if the date is available and a pre-order date is available--I'll be among the first to send in a pre-order.

Thanks,

Brian Spitler

May I ask, if you have any more details on this?  I was really hoping for a DVD release of the 91 series.

Recently, we had a notice in one of the Shadowsgrams that MPI had lowered their tape prices on the 1991 series.  The last time they lowered prices, the DVDS for the original show came out.  I wrote to them to inquire whether or not the 1991 Revival would be coming out in DVD format.  The MPI customer service department wrote me back and said they would not be.  Further, she stated the 1991 VHS tapes would be going out of print sometime next year.

Thus, it's not hopeful that we will see any DVDs of the 1991 Revival series.  I'm hopeful that someday we may have some of Cobert's Music on CD from the 1991 Series.  His use of electronic and acoustic instruments give the score a hallow creepy feeling.

There are several suites on the particular CD I recommended from the various projects Cobert has done with Dan Curtis, Night Stalker, Dracula, The Case of Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde, the Terror of Trilogy, and many others including 1991 Dark Shadows.  Amazon.com has a few listening samples and a cheaper price then MPI.  Stuart has a lovely review of this CD on his site.

This CD would make a perfect DS stocking stuffer. [stocking]
