And speaking of shows that I've recently watched (which I was doing in another topic), last night I finished watching the first season DVD set of Hemlock Grove. And the chief reason I mention that is because Mark Verheiden was one of the writers/executive producers of the first season of the show, positions he also held when it came to the '04 DS pilot - and, in fact, in one of the featurettes on the DVD, he likens HG to DS. And HG does have similarities in that werewolves, vampires, a Frankenstein-like character, a sort of mad scientist a la Eric Lange, questionable clergy, gypsies, a psychic, and a small town ruled by a rich family do factor into the proceedings. Though it's probably best to think of HG as DS jacked up on speed because the plot is wild to say the least (though in a good way) and originally being on Netflix frees the show up to have all sorts of aspects that would never make it on network TV and not even some cable stations.
I'm definitely looking forward to getting into season two and three...
