Me too, Magnus, lol, so I googled it. For once I was more than happy to be wrong about inventing my own theory trying to make sense of something that made absolutely no sense to me. And I thought 'toeheads' could only be male.

(Delayed LOL... On "toeheaded", I was influenced by a PSA ad on TV back then for the Immigration Svc, asking aliens in the US to register.  The foreigner had with him a child whom he was holding by the hand, standing in line at the immigration office.  I swear, rather than a head, the child had a thin faceless flesh colored sock shape, or it could have been a toe!  Ghastly, Liz would have said!  Later they redrew the ad so there was a human head and face, but the toe head version ran for years...)

(I heard the expression for the first time maybe 10 or 12 years ago. I just thought it meant a blond male with a buzz cut resembling a big toe - which never made sense to me but it was all I could come up with.)
