DS Newspaper Comic Strip Book Update

I just got an email from Amazon stating they are cancelling my order due to lack of availability.

Does anyone know the backstory on this?  What I recall is that the publication was announced; then we were told that the editors were searching for copies of the strips to use as they did not have access to a complete set.

The next event after some months had passed was a feature on one or more DS blogs saying that the project was in peril due to very low pre-orders.

I personally had been waiting for follow-up about the book and whether the editors had gotten hold of the required source materials to make it happen.

I saw a comment from a fan on a blog stating that the Amazon blurb for the book was really minimal and it seemed as if the publisher, or editors, were not doing anything to promote it.

Now it's officially canceled.  Just what happened?
