My daughter has received the National Physical Fitness Award. This award is given to those students who score at or above the 50th percentile on all five fitness items. The test consisted of measurements in Cardiovascular Endurance (one mile run), Muscular Strength (push-ups or pull-ups), Muscular Endurance (curl ups), Flexibility (sit n reach) and Agility (shuttle run).

She will be receiving a National Certificate from the President, and a National Award Emblem. There are also National fitness Award winner t-shirts available. She was the only child in her class to receive this award! It is her third award in the last 6 months. She won two Positive Actions Awards, one for Personal Success, and another for "being very kind to classmates". She keeps me busy at home, I'm a single parent, and I'm very proud of her, she's the best!  :)

Wow, Cheryl, that is very impressive!

I'm quite surprised to learn that the physical fitness tests are now being administered to children at such a young age.  I think the first time I took them, I was in the fifth or sixth grade, and I couldn't even pass all of them.  I hope that your daughter remains fit and healthy for a long time to come. :)

Yes, I remember this gauntlet of hell from middle school.  Rather, be hung behind the wall at the old house!

Congratulations to your daughter, Craig Slocum.... It's great that she is able to acheive so much.

Wow! This is great Cheryl!!  Im so happy for the both of you.
Now a days between fast food restaurants, computers, sitting and watching TV and playing video games & play station, there are so many young children who are very overweight.  It's really sad.  Im glad that Stephanie is doing so well and I hope she continues for many more years to come.

Thanks for sharing the good news with us![thumb]

I agree.  It's so sad because they don't care at schools either.  Just look -- elevators, soft drinks, french fries...Waaaaait, where's the salad bar?  ??? It's so sad that things have to be like they are in that case.  Off my soapbox now!  ;)

Thanks for the congratulations! We're very happy about all this. I never had the physical fitness tests when I was in school in the 1970s, we didn't have to do that back then. My daughter is a strong little girl, and the only 7 year old in her class, the other students are already 8 years old. Her name is in the latest school bulletin, she's on the Positive Action list again. There will be an awards assembly for the National Physical Fitness Award later this month. Her dad plans to attend with me. He lives out-of-state and doesn't get here for these things, but really wants to be here for this award. I will post the details of the event. My mother is here visiting, arrived Friday night, and my daughter is very excited about grandma being here! ;)

Maybe you could place the writeup on your webspace and post a link instead.  Please?
