Another bad thing that resulted from the actor that played Jeremiah leaving was the introduction of the guy that played Dr. Lang, he was the voice of Jeremiahs ghost, and was way over the top in trying to warn Vickie about Barnabas after she had returned from 1795... He also played the would-be lawyer for her, till he heard her story about the future.... can still hear that silly "And the last one he will kill is youuu,  youuuuuu ,  YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"""

Hee! Hee!...so true. The new voice for Jeremiah's ghost really helped dehumanize him into a "spook of the week".
I thought that guy (don't know his name either) was one of the most unpleasant actors on the show BUT sometimes he did creep me out as Dr. Lang.

Just a few things I've wondered about as I watch the 1795 SL.  Other than Ben Stokes, the last living person to see Angelique was Joshua. That was when he was offering her money to leave Collinsport. I think he'd left her some sums to mull over. But no-one seems to wonder about her whereabouts. Josette is found in a daze in the Old House, Suki is killed there, people seem to come and go from the house but no mention of where Anqelique has gone. When Baranabas tells Abigail that he's murdered Angelique, I half expected a "no wonder we hadn't seen her for weeks" response from his aunt. Speaking of Abigail, I would have thought she would have been inquiring the most about Angelique, wanting her to testify at Vicki's trial.

Did I miss Daniel Collins in earlier 1795 eps? Was he seen or mentioned before Millicent first spoke of her brother, when she discovered Lt. Forbes was married?

Also, I didn't understand the writers portrayal of Vicki during her trial. One moment it seemed she didn't take it seriously (which she should have, knowing the history of witchcraft in New England) and another moment she  seemed to be hysterical when she should have been calm to counter Trask's fanatical charges.

I gotta quote all of this. More loose ends that made 1795 fall short of brilliant. I also wondered why no-one inquired about Angelique. When Josette heard Angelique's voice looming about on widow's hill all Josette asked was what she was doing there. Oh well, I guess with what Josette went through with Barnabas and Jeremiah, Angelique calling out to her that very night was of no import. It would have been a perfect time to give Josette some idea, at least for a moment, that something was up with her former maid before she plunged to her death. But the writers had her die a total victim, ignorant to the end. And even though I am very sympathetic towards KLS and Josette, I feel the scene (when she jumped off widow's hill) was poorly acted by KLS. Maybe the material just defeated her. JF was fine but it looked like he couldn't find the right acting rythum with Kathleen Scott. Her screams had no feeling in them at all. Just shrill.

I believe Daniel WAS mentioned a few times by Millicent.

Vickie is another interesting cipher but written so stupidly to the point of numbness that I started to loose interest in her (no wonder AM left the show). In my opinion she is the only character and actress who did not fare well under 1795. In fact, she almost seemed to be mentally deficient. I ff most of the witch trial stuff. Vickie of ALL people should have figured out the Angelique was the witch or that there was even a witch around. A waste. Vickie could have been the perfect "buffy vampire slayer" of DS.

REALLY? I guess I didn't see that tape. I'd like to see when Vickie first realizes it. Thanks for telling me.

You're right Joeytrom, but this was only after Peter Bradford had pointed it out to her! She didn't realize this on her own.   And by the time Peter told her this,  it had been so far into the trial and was almost near the hanging scene anyway.  It also amazed me that she couldn't figure this out on her own, especially after finding two personal items that belonged to Barnabas in Angelique's room, and then to wind up believing Angelique's crazy story about Sarah leaving them there? ???

Ben Stokes testified that Angelique was a witch at the trial. He told them about her spells on Jeremiah & Josette because she (Angelique) loved Barnabas. Ben also mentioned she turned Joshua into a cat. This was  when Angelique's ghost materialized outside the courtroom, before she testified, turning Ben's testimony into nonsense. But still no-one asked where she had been or if or why she had abandonded the Old House (though Peter Bradford did search for her afterwards).

If Ben hadn't shown up at Barnabas' instistence, would anyone have ever suspected Angelique as being the real witch?

I think it would have made things more interesting if someone had suspected, if Angelique had encountered more resistance. The most obviously choices were Vickie or Josette. The writing on the wall from what I saw (and I haven't seen all the 1795 tapes) is that unless Barnabas or Ben told them outright no-one figured it out on their own.
