Magda gets Jenny to promise not to tell anyone about Barnabas and the coffin as long as Magda promises not to interfere with her and Quentin. I think that was very foolish of Magda, counting on the word of a mentally unstable woman. Just because Jenny promises one thing one minute doesn't mean she won't get confused and blab something the next.

Quentin returns to the Old House and is shocked to learn that Magda and Jenny are sisters. He and Magda exchange nasty remarks back and forth over Jenny when she reveals it to him.

Quentin deserved the vase Magda threw at him for saying that Jenny's being a gypsy would have made her more interesting to him. I'm only sorry it missed him. He refuses to take ANY kind of responsibility for what he put Jenny through with his infidelities and only wants to be rid of her. Sad part is Jenny now wants him once again when he would be just as happy to get her out of his hair permanently.

Magda begs Barnabas to release Sandor and allow them to take Jenny away before Quentin kills her, but Barnabas refuses. He warns Magda she will be the sacrificial lamb if she interferes in his plans. I would have thought he could have been a little more sympathetic to Magda in regards to Jenny even if he had no intention of granting her request.

And I have to say I don't blame Magda one bit for wanting to smack Judith after that crack Judith made about Jenny being Magda's sister is the reason for her insanity and not Quentin's cheating. I have not been impressed with Judith's treatment of Jenny thus far and that remark really hit below the belt. What ever empathy Judith may have had for her sister-in-law (which I doubt she had very much of) I guess Judith now believes Jenny is now unworthy of it just for being a gypsy, something that Jenny had no control of. But gypsy or not, no woman deserves the callous treatment and disdain that Quentin and his siblings have shown her.

Barnabas argues with Judith over allowing Jenny to stay at the Old House when Jenny comes downstairs and freaks out. She insists he's dead and saw him in the coffin. The episode ends with a panic stricken Barnabas looking on.

Good episode.

Quentin returns to the Old House, but he's left his gun at Collinwood. This time he has a garotte. He is shocked--for a nanosecond, anyway--when Magda warns him that she will curse him if he does Jenny more harm. But that's nothing to his shock when he learns that Jenny and Magda are sisters. Too bad Magda didn't have something larger (like a safe) to throw at him.

Barnabas certainly isn't at his best in this episode. It's too bad Magda didn't see his kindness to Jenny. It's really cruel of him not to free Sandor. There will be consequences.

As usual, Judith's first priority is avoiding a scandal. It seems to me that Barn wants to take Jenny to the 20th century, since he says he has friends "in England" who can treat her illness. But then Jenny arrives and screams that he's dead. Is it curtains for Barnabas?

"He locked me in a room... and then he died."-- Jenny.  I always remembered that line.  Maybe it's stuff like this that gets DS really going, the criss-crossing of circumstances leading to (say) Barnabas being a millimeter away from disaster, that sort of thing.  Just when it's all about Jenny and Quentin, rather than the writers/plotters forgetting about other issues (as they used to), just when B's vampirism is well off center stage, Jenny the loose cannon brings it roaring back to the spotlight.  We then think it's settled, with a lot of effort from Magda...

Quentin learns about Jenny's origin.  The Curse is first threatened by Magda... and in an instant, both Selby and Hall give the simple hand gesture total credibility.  Quentin knows enough to be totally mortified at it.  After the break, Quentin is over it though, brushing the threat aside.

One of the best cliffhangers ever-- Jenny encounters Barnabas again the next night, when he's discussing her with Judith, and he doesn't quite realize, I guess, that the last time she saw him, he was in the coffin, or, after a hasty conversation earlier with Magda, he thinks it's been dealt with.  Jenny was totally unprepared for seeing him alive though-- she only promised to say nothing about seeing him in the coffin.  Jenny screams that, he's dead!!!  She saw him in the coffin!!  Another classic look of mortification...
