I don't know if any other DS fans out there are watching Constantine.  The main attraction for me is Welsh actor Matt Ryan's portrayal of the title character.  He's brooding, conflicted, snarky, and a bit of a mess.  There was a lot of concern in fannish circles that the series was going to seriously adulterate the source material, but from what I have read, so far the story mostly follows the books.

For those who like occult horror with an edge, you might want to have a look. The scripts are uneven but Ryan is worth checking out.

Ryan, like a certain other actor we admire, is a dyed-in-the-wool Shakespearean, with roles in the Royal Shakespeare Company.  As a child he appeared in a West End production of Les Miz.

'Constantine' Season 1 ending after 13 episodes: Fans and cast rally for Season 2

I've DVR'd all the eps so far, but I haven't had the chance to watch any of them.

I might have time to watch last Friday's new episode this evening.  So far, each episode has been a little better than the previous one.  I haven't read the books so I am just evaluating the series on its own terms.

I read Hellblazer for many years. It was, in its prime, an excellent read. But I think it's safe to say that some of its adult content wouldn't be deemed acceptable for network TV. A for effort.

Anne Marie seems somewhat different than the character I remember from Hellblazer. She's younger, definitely more attractive and seems to have some elements of Emma, one of John's early love interests.

I do hope the series lasts long enough to get to the Newcastle story. It was one of the most compelling and harrowing of the entire series.
