Semi-OT: Looking for a volunteer
« on: December 10, 2003, 07:17:48 PM »
I'm looking for someone to betaread/proofread/provide feedback (whatever you want to call it) my Joan Bennett pathfinder (i.e. my web site with bibliographic stuff), which is near completion.

Interested parties, please PM me :) thanks.

One last desperate call for a volunteer. The site is up and done, I just need an extra pair of eyes and some constructive feedback. That's it, honestly. You would earn my undying gratitude and all sorts of brownie points (and a credit on the acknowledgement page, of course).

Send me a private message me if you're interested.

Talk to Dom, he's a major JB fan.

I have some very old, obscure JB movies that I taped off TCM. if you want them copied for screen grabs let me know.

Disraeli(1929)
Vouges of 1938(1937)
Moby Dick(1930)
Secret Beyond the Door(1948)

also one other from 1947, a fim noir directed by Jean Renoir. can't recall the title, will look in my collection to check. Most of it's on a beach.

I also have her last ever interview, from the 1980s, on The Joe Franklin Show, and Scarlet Street, but that's readily available.

:) I hope you let us know about the Joan Bennett site... please.

:o It always bothers me when people put down her work on DS.  She was hardly ever given anything to work with, and didn't think we'd be watching it today.  When she was given something to do, she was wonderful.  Look at the episode where she looses her mind to Laura in 1967, or the reading of Edith's will in 1897.

;D I would like to see or hear or read a transcript of the Joe Franklin show sometime.

Thanks for the offers for the screen grabs, David, but I'm going to have to turn you down. The site is on a university server and I'm in a profession where copyright is considered a huge deal, so I can't risk posting non-public domain images  :(

I will post the link shortly, of course. She's one of my favorite actresses and I loved her on DS.

It's not going to be anything incredible. I just wanted to create a little something that will help people find material about her.

BTW, I have a couple of volunteers now, so thanks everyone.

Lucia: Hi, I don't think posting a still or a brief clip on a fansite would be considered copyright infringement. A clip, maybe, but not a still.

Let me know if you change your mind.

Without getting too in depth on this--it's not really a fan site. It's on a .edu domain. The purpose of the site is to provide information and citations really (very low on the glamour scale).

I don't own any of the copyrights to the images I have and I don't know if posting an image would fall into the category of "fair use" or not and I'd rather not risk it.

Thank you though, for the offer. I really do appreciate it.

Luciaphil...this is interesting...but I don't know what 'betaread' means; and I think I'd have to have some working knowledge of computer 'paths', which, sorry to say, I don't.

Sorry,

Patti
