I don't know why some people stay together when they would be better off divorced but life is stranger than fiction and some people just feel safer within a marriage than out of it. Their "other half" is fulfilling some need that we just don't see. Maybe PT Quentin took Maggie away from the Friday night bar scene(while she was looking for Mr. Goodbar) to the "happy" Collins household where the "spirits" run free.
