Amazon Lightning Deal - DS: The Complete Original Series (Deluxe Edition)

From 12:20 p.m. - 4:20 p.m. PST/3:20 p.m. - 7:20 p.m. EST on Cyber Monday Amazon will be selling DS: The Complete Original Series (Deluxe Edition) DVD set for $299.99. Not as good as the $279.99 Amazon sold it for back in October - but still a great deal.

Apparently there are fans there buying because in just the first 10 minutes it's already 45% claimed.

Actually it's down to 33% claimed, so apparently some people changed their minds. I've never actually noticed that happen, but apparently it can because even though I was on Amazon right at 3:20pm ET and I clicked right away, somehow I managed to click too late to claim the 3 disc Collector's Edition of Brave (as a Christmas gift). However, Amazon told me I was on a waiting list - and while I didn't really understand exactly what that meant, it's a good thing I waited around a while because 15 minutes later they told me I could claim the deal. I guess some of the people who'd clicked on it before I did changed their minds. So obviously it's a good idea to hang around until the previous claimants' opportunities to buy expires because then you may get the opportunity to claim the deal they passed on.

It's been steadily climbing back up and has reached 45% once again. It'll be interesting to see what it reaches before the deal ends...

Presumably there are individuals who load up their shopping cart, then do a final review and take out stuff that they decide they don't really want to buy as part of the deal.  That explains how the percentage can go up and down.

With these Lightning Deals you only have 15 minutes to claim them/checkout or you lose them (and more often than not you're completely limited to only one copy per customer, which is a good thing). So, if people take too long deciding what they really want, that could be another way for them to lose them and for someone else to claim them.

I guess the lesson here is don't abandon the site if Amazon tells you you've been put on the waiting list because you might get the deal after all. 

As for the DS set, it's now at 48% with more than an hour to go in the sale...

It ended up reaching 63% claimed, which I think is actually good considering it's $300.
