"Tiffany's" it ain't.......
« on: April 15, 2003, 08:26:37 PM »
I've seen a lot of pentagrams in my time.....(a LOT of pentagrams, actually)...... and the one Barnabas gave to Carolyn has to rank among the tackiest I've ever set eyes on.  What IS that...rhinestones?.....metal beads?....badly executed hammering?

The man has a cache of family jewels in the basement and THAT was the best he could do for his cousin?  [tngb]

Isn't it awful, Rainey?  I myself was giggling over the fact that it appears in the montage in the "horned" position, hahahaha.

I'm not sure where you would have gone shopping for a pentagram back in 1969.  It may have just been a piece of costume jewellry that someone in Props went to work on on his lunch hour.

Not only that but couldn't he at least afford to give her a decent chain to go with it?  She had to go out herself and purchase one at the Antique shop!

I assumed it was the same one picked up by Beth and paid for by Quentin for his son that Barnabas dug up before his trip to the past.  I don't recall if that one was on a chain.  I assumed it was.  But, they needed some excuse for Carolyn to be buying something at the shop!! ;D

LOL! I've noticed that the longer I watch DS the more certain of the family "jewels" seem to have that unmistakeable dime store/Cracker Jack/gumball machine quality.

Head shops! I remember them well. They always smelled of jasmine incense, had fascinating little doo dads, the people were friendly [peace] and the jewelry was cool[coolb]. I still adore this ring I bought in a head shop in Hawaii in the mid '70's...I know that won't make you feel any younger Rainey - but you are NOT alone!  ;D

Actually, Castlebee.....I'm grateful I was a teenager THEN and not NOW.  I don't think my kid has as much fun as we did back then.  I remember the local head shops with a great deal of fondness.....I bought scores of books and posters there....many of which I would love dearly to still have in my possession....but alas, I do not.  The music was always current (and turned up loud!), the conversation was that lovely combination of naivete and pretention only the young can achieve, the boys were cute....hell, even I was cute!!

Sigh...... ;)

They were even selling them up here, on the edge of nowhere, by the tarot cards and the black candles.

Any rumors you may hear about me being in one of those places under age to snag a bottle of Rush are absolutely false.  And I only know that Banana Easy Widers actually exsited by word of mouth.  Same thing goes for the Annie Green Springs in the water pipe.

Ah head shops.  That surely brings back pleasant memories.  Peace, love and rock & roll!

Well, I grew up in suburban Maryland, and all the head shops were in Baltimore, and my parents made sure I stayed well away from them back in the day.

I was kind of an odd teenager...
