Password problems.
« on: March 26, 2003, 04:05:17 PM »
Hello,

I am trying to edit my profile and password, but either my current password doesn't work or I have the wrong one.  Could someone please send to it to me so that I can amend my profile? [5393]

Thank you!

Hi Happybat,

The current password will always work.  I'm emailing what I found to your registered address, but I'm assuming you haven't changed it since we converted to SE... cuz *if* you've changed your pw since Feb. 18, you can request it by writing to webmaster@dsboards.com .

I am having the same problem.  I am trying to edit my profile, but when I put in my password it tells me there is an error.  Also, I have a picture I want to use in my profile.  How do I add that? Thanks

I am having the same problem.  I am trying to edit my profile, but when I put in my password it tells me there is an error.

Hi Anubis,

This is the error that was logged on each of those attempts: "You haven't entered your current Password. You have to enter your current Password to make any changes to your Profile."  For added security, a pw is now required in order to make changes to your profile.  It has to be entered into the Required Info section.  If you're typing it in the area further down on your profile page in which you're asked to type it twice, this is the area used for changing your password only, but the old one has to be entered in the top section no matter what edit you're making.

Also, I have a picture I want to use in my profile.  How do I add that? Thanks

To add any picture to your profile it has to be stored online-- in your own space, in someone else's space that has given you permission to link to it, or in dsboards space.  Then its URL is linked to your profile either by using YaBB image code if it's for your signature, or if it's for your avatar by checking the box in your profile next to "I have my own pic" and then entering the URL in the space that follows it; the maximum size allowed for an avatar image is 65 x 68 pixels.

Hope this helped!

Thanks alot Midnite.  I guess I didn't read the whole page correctly.  I was trying to put my password in the bottom part.
I wanted to put a scanned picture of my cat I have as my avitar, but it is on my computer and not a web site so I guess I can't use it.  :(     Thanks for helping me out.  :)

It's a common mistake.  Please don't give it another thought.

If you send it as an attachment to midnite@dsboards.com , it may take a few days to get to but I'll get it on there for you.

Thank you so much Midnite.  He looks so cute with his bat. It really shows the devil in him.

Thanks Josette, he's a real cutey.  But in person you certainly don't need a magnifying glass to see him - he weighs over 23 pounds!
