The Adorable Ray Carlson

Last night I watched the episode with Ray Carlson as Aldon Wicks. <sigh> Not the best actor, but very easy on the eyes.  Too bad that DC & Co. couldn't have found a way to keep him around for a while, so we could have been rewarded with 16 Magazine profiles such as:

Your Dream Date with Ray Carlson ("When Ray picks you up for your date, instead of flowers or candy, he's likely to bring you one his favorite books of poetry.")
How to Tell If You're Ray's Kind of Girl ("Ray isn't concerned with what's on the outside. He believes that true beauty comes from within.")
The Secret that Ray Carlson Wants to Share with You! ("Ray doesn't always find it easy to confide in people, but he has something he wants to tell you, 16 Reader.")

I totally agree, Claude!  I'll never forget the first time I saw Ray's episode as an adult.  When he showed up, my jaw dropped, I hit the rewind button and then paused a few times.

"Who is this enchanting dreamboat?"  I wondered.  I also regret that he didn't become a semi regular.

As I recall, Ray's IMDB entry is pretty scant, too.  Along the lines of Brian Sturdivant's?

Thanks for the memory,

Steve

Ray Carlson, Brian Sturdivant, & Tom Happer.  Any of them should have been on longer then they were!
Perhaps each of them could have played a Roger Davis role after Jeff Clark!

TH= Ned Stuart
BS= Dirk Wilkins
CDT= Ray Carlson (or Harry Johnson)

All three would have provided the recommended daily allowance of eye candy. I wonder if the show might have benefited, ratings-wise, from a conscious effort to increase the dreamboat content.  Granted, the show had great success with non-traditional teen heartthrobs, but I don't know that James Storm and, especially, Keith Prentice (the two major male additions during the final year) were of that tradition.  Plus, teen audiences are fickle, and teen idols have short shelf lives, so a few new fresh faces, given a proper build up, might have helped.
