Chris Bernau - Guiding Light
« on: January 02, 2003, 06:48:00 AM »
Today CBS aired an episode of Guiding Light from 1983. The episode featured Christopher Bernau in the role of Alan. It was interesting for me because I have yet to see him on DS.

I took the following screen captures:

Thanks for sharing these, Victoria.  I hadn't heard about this being aired; would have taped it, had I known.  I enjoyed Bernau's work on DS a lot.

He looks as if he had a rough life, given how badly he seems to have aged during the 13 years between 1970 (when he did his work on DS) and ths time.

Incidentally, Chris played opposite Don Briscoe in the replacement cast for Boys in the Band in 1969 on B'way.  I've often wondered whether Briscoe put the bee in his bonnet about trying out for DS.

Last year at this time CBS played an old episode of As the World Turns on it with Julianne Moore and an actress i wish had made it as big as Ms. Moore, Giulia Pagano. . .i was in heaven.

Thanks so much for the screen captures VWR!  Chris Bernau as Alan Spaulding and Michael Zaslow as Roger Thorpe was one of the great bad guy pairings in Soap history...IMHO!  Wish I had known it was on so I could have watched it!

I'm not familiar with Giulia Pagano, but I adore Julianne Moore!

And speaking of heaven, have you seen Julianne in FAR FROM HEAVEN?  I think she's a shoo-in for the Best Actress Oscar this year...

Ms. Pagano does mostly theatre.  She did ATWT in 1985 with Ms. Moore (fresh outta college).  Her character, Marsha Talbot, was a mid-30s woman secretly inlove with her boss. . .hmm See a theme here?  And played Peter Straus's devoted zealot wife in Masada.  Otherwise, she seems to frequent east coast rep theatre and the Cincinnati Playhouse.  She lived in Dutchess County, NY back in '85.
