OT: Betsy Durkin Matthes visits Normandy Invasion Site
« on: August 08, 2010, 05:40:17 AM »
This is an article I found when looking for other pictures.  The event actually took place during the 65th anniversary of the Normandy Invasion in June 2009.  A group of WW2 reenactors were also visiting when they encountered Betsy and her son at the site, along with surviving veterans.

Betsy's father, Lt. Col. Edwin Ostberg, had survived the Normandy invasion, but unfortunately was killed in another battle the following year, when his daughter was just three.  Betsy had gathered a lot of information on her Dad which she graciously shared with the reenactors.

Scroll down for a photo of Betsy with some of the group.
