OT/I have an employment test tomorrow!

I just wanted to let you all know that I have an employment test scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 AM!  It's for a Clerk - Beginning Level position for the county. I will have to get up early, as the registration starts at 10:45 AM and the test location is about 30 minutes away. They are REALLY SLOW - I applied two months ago. I hope I do well enough on the test for them to offer me the job AND that it won't take ANOTHER 2 months (or longer) for that to happen. I REALLY need the money NOW. Wish me luck!

Thanks to all of you who wished me luck. I survived, and I even got there early! There were two timed tests given. The first test was alphabetization, which had 15 questions to be answered in only 7 minutes! I'm good at filing, but those questions were tricky, because the names were out of order, so I had to put them in order, and then pick the ones that went first, etc. (that they were asking for). I only answered 5 questions! The second test was much longer and had different sections to it. There were 85 questions that had to be answered in a little over 1-1/2 hours. I had the hardest time with the math section, which had word problems. I hate word problems! I had a heck of a time figuring out the correct answers to those questions!  It was very frustrating! I had 3 questions left to answer just before time was up, took a guess at one, and the time elapsed before I could make guesses on the last two answers! Only one other person was still there. I was amazed that most of the other test takers were able to complete the test so fast!  Including me, there were 44 "candidates" there, and I heard a rumor that there were several positions open. At the most, I got 87 or 88 questions out of 100 right. I hope that I didn't miss any other questions and I'm able to get a high enough score to get offered a job. I have to wait 3 weeks before they will send me the results! That's a bummer that I have to wait so long! I'll keep you posted.

My husband and I will both be taking the 2010 US Census Employment Test for Field Employee Positions on Thursday, 1/21/10 at 10:00 AM. Yes, that's right, I convinced him to apply, too! They pay $22/hr. in our area, so even though the jobs are temporary, the pay is great! I hope we both get good enough scores to get hired, and it won't take too long!

Good luck, Sally!  If you get the job, you can sneak a Dark Shadows question into the census, like "Mitchell Ryan or Anthony George?"
