HODS Amazon video on demand

While we await a HODS DVD release, I decided to check out the Amazon.com video-on-demand version of HODS, which I purchased instead of rented, for viewing via my blu-ray player on my HD TV. The presentation fills the screen in 1.85:1 aspect ratio, which is a zoomed and cropped picture of the full-frame presentation available on VHS and as shown on TCM (and other TV stations over the years).  I must assume, then, that when we finally see HODS on DVD, this will be the presentation, rather than what we see on the VHS and TV versions PLUS additional picture information on the side.  Actually, in this presentation on my HD set, HODS looks just fine, the framing is quite good, and so I think this is what we'll get.

Ugh.  Words fail me.  but from what Darren posted last year about recent television b/casts--and I would presume the material on offer here is identical--I think you're correct, and this will be the way the movie is released on DVD.

It's very sad to think I'll never see again what I saw in 1970... not that it is one of my favorite films, but I do have a sentimental attachment because of the link with DS...

When i tried to buy it though amazon on my Blu-ray player it would only give me the option to rent at $2.99. It ened up free because Amazon gave me a $5 credit for registering  Blu-ray player for Amazon On Demand and linking it to my amazon acount. You can also Rent or buy the MPI DS Volumes (DVD version) or episodes on the Amazon On Demand.
