Two minor things that I enjoy on Dark Shadows are opening voiceovers by Grayson Hall and exterior shots of the Old House.  I got both today.

Adam may be super-intelligent but he is also super-obtuse.  He knows that Barnabas is in love with Vicky because Barnabas has said so.  He knows that Vicky is in love with Jeff because Vicky has said so.  Therefore Vicky is not in love with Barnabas even though Barnabas is in love with her.  And yet Adam seems to think that he's the only being in the world who is not loved.

I really liked the action involving Stokes today.  I liked how Julia would not rule out Stokes as the evil genius behind Adam.  Then the conversation between Stokes and Barnabas was interesting.  Stokes accused Barnabas of holding back information, but I was surprised at how freely Barnabas admitted to Stokes that Adam was an artificial man and that Barnabas had been involved in his creation.  Just because Stokes already knew this does not mean that Barnabas was obliged to admit it - so Stokes got more out of Barnabas than he might have expected.  And finally, the conversation between Stokes and Adam was absorbing. Adam has turned away from Stokes, who took him in, fed him, and taught him.  At least Adam was willing to listen to what Stokes had to say (whereas he will not listen to anything Barnabas has to say) but Adam rejects it.

Poor Stokes.  At this point in the series, the person to whom he is most human and giving is Adam, and now Adam refuses what Stokes tries to give.

Oh, one more thing - Julia's business with the glove while Adam was talking was perfect.

I agree that the scenes during which Prof. Stokes talked to Barnabas and Adam were very enjoyable to watch.  [bigok] Prof. Stokes had spunk!  [ghost_smiley] He admitted to Barnabas that the only reason he would talk to Adam was for Vicki's sake, and he wasn't intimidated by Adam to leave too soon. It's too bad that Adam wouldn't listen to Prof. Stokes.  [ghost_sad] Nicholas sure could influence people! Nicholas didn't have to say much to Adam to get him to go to the "dark side".  Unfortunately, Prof. Stokes was attempting  to convince Adam to come back to the "good side", but was unsuccessful. Adam was stubborn, pigheaded, unwilling to listen, and quite obnoxious.  [ghost_angry] Adam reminded me of a spoiled little kid!  [tantrum]

I thought it was curious that Barnabas and Julia didn't admit to Jeff that Adam was Dr. Lang's creation. I think Barnabas and Julia were being too secretive.  [lpsldg]

Barnabas and Julia, always talked to each other, but they didn't bring more people in.

Adam is a spoiled child.

So Adam intends to punish Barnabas by killing Vicki if he doesn't get a mate...he'll also be punishing Carolyn too. Carolyn and Vicki are very close. I wish Professor Stokes could have pointed that out to Adam. Adam seems to think Barnabas would be the only one to suffer because of Vicki's death and that is not true. Vicki is loved by everyone at Collinwood, including Carolyn. If I had been Stokes I would have tried to use that angle, that killing Vicki would cause Carolyn as much pain and anguish as it would Barnabas.

Because at this point, Carolyn appears to be Adam's only Achilles' Heel.

I too liked how Stokes told Barnabas he would only help for Vicki's sake. Also liked how he gave it to Barnabas for demanding answers from him when Barnabas and Julia have been totally unwilling to tell him anything. It was hyprocritical of Barnabas to do that.

[spoiler]I don't think that Barnabas and Julia ever bring Stokes into things where he has all the knowledge of what is going on. I don't think he ever guess that Barnabas was the only Barnabas Collins.[/spoiler]

It would have made a different show if Barn and Julia told him the whole truth.
