I keep waiting for the standard 1795 voiceover, cut-and-pasted from one day's script to the next, but they haven't gotten to it yet.

Today's episode showed the last completely happy moments of Barnabas and Josette.  They were beautiful and sad to watch, when you know what's coming.

Good old Angelique, always overdramatic.  Why did she waste her time with the skull-with-wig business?  Granted, we don't have definite confirmation that she did it (unless I missed something), but her overreactions in the drawing room made it clear.  I believed Ben when he said that he didn't know anything about it, so she must have delivered it herself. She got away with it, but it was a silly and unnecessary risk to take.

Josette's portrait was in Josette's room, though it shouldn't have been and the crew knew it.  It was carefully unlit, and most of the time the face wasn't shown.  We know it could be moved because it was originally in the drawing room.  Was the problem that they couldn't find anything else appropriate for the space over the fireplace in Josette's room?

Spoilers ahead:

Poor Ben, being manipulated by Angelique to do her dirty work, helplessly watching as one tragedy after another befalls the Collins family and unable to stop it, or even to warn them.

I love how Barnabas is so kind to Ben, offering to give him a better life with him and Josette.

I very much enjoy watching the scenes between Barnabas and Jeremiah. They really are very close, and it shows. I only wish we could have seen more of them interacting with each other.

Maybe that skull was the head of Judah Zackery.  ;D LOL!

Can you imagine Jeremiah's shock upon Josette coming in to his room and practically throwing herself at him?

Excellent acting by all.

This is turning into how bad can Angelique be show.   Barnabas was very smart today to ask Angelique if she did it with the skull.  ( By the way I don't think it would be Judah because Angelique would have really freaked out ) But that was a great comment.

I wish that Barnabas would have done more, when he started to think about Angelique being the cause. She was the one that would have really profited  from everyting.  I wonder way Barnabas didn't go to Jerremiah and tell him.  Maybe he didn't want to tell him about the fling he had with Angelique.

Josette does in someways seem kind of wimpy, but maybe that is what men wanted back then.  Maybe it was just that she was spoiled.

Thayer did  such a great job as Ben, I think in some ways it is one of my favorite characters that he does.

I remember not too long ago, I used to say, "Poor Willie!" --- well, now it's, "Poor Ben!" Ben is the one in the 1795 storyline who is made to do things he doesn't want to do. [shkdg] That was great acting by Thayer David!  [clap2] First, he couldn't talk, and then he couldn't move! It was very believable.

I agree, this storyline is turning into how bad Angelique can be! [witch] There has been a switch from Barnabas being the bad person in 1967  [blackbat] to Angelique being the bad person in 1795.  [Witch_Potion_Animated] Lara Parker is doing such a wonderful job, too!   She really doesn't seem like a relatively inexperienced actress at all. [winkg]

Yes, those scenes between Barnabas and Josette, when they were so happy, were very bittersweet, indeed!  [love9] It was cute how Josette was concerned with others seeing them kiss.  [love8]

I love how Josette refers to Barnabas as a "modern" man (and he agrees), when he is so wedded to the past in the 1967 storyline.  Another big change in his character.
