Well, once again, Jason weaseled his way out of trouble, and used blackmail. He no doubt tells Elizabeth let me go, no charges, jail, anything, or you'll never know what happened to Paul.

If I didn't know what was gonna happen I'd be disgusted. But I can't really blame Elizabeth for wanting to know the truth, I would want to know what really happened to the husband I supposedly killed so long ago.

I respect the fact she didn't want to go through a scandal or put the family through scandal by bringing Jason to trial, but still it makes my blood boil to know he gets away with a slap on the wrist. I mentioned this once before, she should have at least have made him repay all the money he blackmailed from her though.

I think Roger wanted to deck Jason for one moment there, and I can't blame him, I know I wanted to!

Loved Sheriff Patterson's line to Jason "Don't give me your word, it's the most worthless commodity in the market." So funny and so true!

We see at the end of this episode, Jason has a back-up plan to snare a part of the Collins worth that he has no right to....we see him at the Old House.

The next few episodes are gonna be good. This one certainly was.

In some ways this story was weak. I have wondered one thing. Where is all the jewels and the money that was in the suitcase.  Did Paul walk out with it, out the window?? So it didn't do any good for Liz to hit him and think that he was dead for all those years.

For once Roger was honest about what he would have done with the data.

With all the digging why didn't the Sherrif and Burke get dirty???  ^-^ ^-^

In some ways this show just seemed to fill time until they get to Friday.

I think Liz paid off Jason soon as he was finished with his "disposal" of the body.  Liz once remarked early in the story that he was "well paid for his services".

Once again, Jason fumbles.  When he got Liz alone, here's what he should have said: "My dear, you are quite right: you did kill Paul Stoddard.  He was dead as the proverbial doornail.  But you were in such a state that night that I knew I couldn't trust you to keep the secret.  The body is buried elsewhere, Liz.  Now, we'll tell the sheriff to go back to his dinner, and when Carolyn comes back, we'll tell her you were just a bit hysterical with joy at the thought of marrying me.  We'll get the judge back here, and we'll get married as planned, or I'll tell everybody where the body really is, and I'll tell them how I saw you attacking Paul Stoddard in cold blood, as he sat peacefully by the fire reading an improving book."  It might not work, but gosh, Jason sure folded easily.

I had forgotten the mention that was made in this episode of Jason's Swiss bank account.  I daresay Jason had full access to it, but saw no reason to pass up a chance to get a little something out of Willie.

So...the last time Jason saw Paul Stoddard was in Singapore, about ten years ago?  He's lying, of course.  We know from later on that Paul Stoddard [spoiler]prospered nicely after he left Collinsport, and I'm sure Jason was cadging money from him periodically throughout the years - but there would be no need to tell Liz that, and risk drying up a steady source.[/spoiler]
Oh, one more thing - down there in the basement.  Sheriff Patterson is trying unsuccessfully to get the trunk open while Burke stands around doing nothing, and Patterson says, "I'll need your help."  For once, take-charge Burke wouldn't lift a finger without being asked.  If I had been Patterson, I'd have been teed off.  And golly, didn't they notice how light the trunk was when they lifted it out of the hole?  No, they had to wait until they opened it to see that it was empty.

The what if? dialogue is the same as fiction writing, and with it getting progressively longer, well, you know...

From the Forum Guidelines:  These forums also do not accept fan fiction and such works are subject to removal.

In fairness to the many posters who have had their creative writing removed from the boards, we'll have to do the same in new WP posts.

So we find out in this episode that Elizabeth did NOT kill Paul Stoddard after all! [winkg] I remember being very surprised the first time I saw this! [cheesyg]

I don't blame Elizabeth for wanting to know what happened to Paul Stoddard - I would have wanted to know, too! [thumb]

Jason is too greedy for his own good.  His greediness will get him into trouble! [shkdg]
