SLICK SURFACE SHADOWS
« on: May 01, 2002, 03:29:44 AM »
Dan Curtis was exploring the idea of a musical. However, both Bette and I think (considering the popularity of figure skating) a even more successful venture would be putting the story on ice.  Let's open the possibility of DARK SHADOWS ON ICE to a discussion.
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

I think it's a great idea, VAM!  If Dan Curtis had a "suggestions" box, I'd say that you should drop him a line.  It would be quite interesting to see a figure skating interpretation of Barnabas's 'courtship' of Maggie, or to see 1795 on ice if there was a flashback of some sort.

Thanks ProfStokes-I thought maybe putting it out on the board to get reactions from the fans of the idea as a first step and perhaps hope ::) that maybe the right person may see it here!

(I can visualize Kurt Browning, another Canadian like Frid, as Barnabas,  with Katerina Witt or Tara Lipinski as Josette, and Nicole Bobek playing Angelique.)

Sounds like a wonderful & interesting idea Vam! I would love to see DS on ice! :)  And with the right kind of cast, I think it would work out fine! I say go for it! ;)

If Dan Curtis is interested, I think that I have an ice show promoter, who might be willing to make it happen.

Wow Vam, I was just kidding when I "cast" DS on Ice at our little discussion, but you have really taken the idea to heart and it sounds like you have the connections to get the idea to the right place. :D

I won't repeat all my casting ideas because some of the skaters that I would cast are not well known to people who don't follow the sport, but I will repeat that I think Sale and Pelletier would be perfect as Maggie and Joe. Those two skaters seem the perect all-American couple, even though they are Canadian. ;)

Go for it.  [thumb]

Nancy Kerrigan does a Halloween skating special every year. Maybe she'd like to play with the idea. She could be Vicki. Sorry, but I really don't want to see 1795 repeated yet again, even on ice!

ROTFL Bette about the "Why me?" gal!

Yes, I do have some connections in that I know some promoters and agents in the world of boots and blades.
Also, I have put together fund-rasing exhibitions for libraries that had U.S., world and Olympic skaters as performers.
