Sorry to have to do this, but my frustration level has peaked.  Moderators, what is UP w/the lag on the Forums?  Am I the only one who has, for the past week or so, experienced LONG wait times to get the Forums to come up, posts to open and replies to post?  It's like being back on the dreaded Dial-Up!  I mean, it's so bad I actually kinda dread coming here anymore, which sucks because I LOVE coming here to play.   [hall2_cry]

i'm glad you mention this buzz.

the forum had been very sluggish lately.

i thought maybe something was wrong with my computer.i'm glad it's not just me.

Unfortunately there's absolutely nothing we can do about it because it's in the hands on our host. As I mentioned to BuzzH privately after she sent me a PM a few days ago on this subject, something is apparently up with our host's MySQL database server. For example, the other day I attempted to backup the database three times but couldn't get past 50% before the MySQL server spit me out. And it took 20 minutes to get that far even though it normally only takes 5 minutes to backup the whole thing.  [hall2_undecided]  The forum's system is completely database reliant (as most forum systems are these days), so any problems with a databse server are going to affect it.  [hall2_sad]

The really interesting thing is that whatever the problem is, it comes and goes. For instance, I was able to backup the database on the 17th in the usual 5 minutes. And at least 75% of the time the forum has been behaving normally for me. Maybe I've just had good timing.  [idontknow]  Though that being said, the forum is definitely sluggish at the moment...

Apparently I spoke too soon because now the forum is responding for me as quickly as it ever has. For example, I just sent a PM that went through in 0.204 seconds and this topic came up for me in 0.309 seconds. Though who knows what things might be like a few hours from now...

I've been experiencing this too. I was thinking about posting something or asking someone about it, as I had checked out my computer to make sure it wasn't me. It's been happening to me on and off for the past week or so, but today it seems to be just fine so let's hope it stays that way! Thanks for the information MB! [female_skull]

Yes, I've seen it too - both the lag, and the capriciousness of the lag.  Deepest sympathies to MB on the backup pain.
