I've been watching the DS DVDs (now on 22), and sometimes I use the "zoom" feature on my 42" widescreen plasma TV, and--surprisingly--the show doesn't suffer too much from being enlarged to fill the screen.  Granted, it's not the original way the videographers intended it to be seen, but the original series' video wasn't exactly the most artistic in its capture of the picture.  It's actually enjoyable to watch this way....

Aloha! We have a 60" widescreen HDTV, and the show plays quite beautifully on that as well. I really was shocked at the picture quality of the DVDs when I first got my hands on them, as I was so used to my crappy SciFi tapes.

Cool. My laptop has a widescreen screen, and when I watch my DS on it I get a little more picture information on the sides than I do on my standard ratio TV. I assume the same goes for widescreen TVs when you play them at 1.33:1?
