Pretty cool episode. I guess the Old House really is the only place to go at this point, and as Peter reasons, they’ll be safe there - at least temporarily. It ends up being a sound decision because Ben is there and he is the perfect ally. I totally forgot about the secret room in the Old House drawing room. Daniel finding Vicki & Peter by following the trail of blood was pretty hokey, but as I kid I would have eaten that stuff up. I can’t imagine why Daniel would even know about the secret room. The only reasonable explanation is that Sarah showed it to him. It wasn’t hard to guess that P&V would end up in the mausoleum’s secret room. If Nathan were out of the picture, Collinwood would have been a better place to hide and I don’t think it would have been too unreasonable to think that Naomi & Joshua would have hidden them there for the rest of their lives. And I am thinking that Barn might need the mausoleum room for when the search party searched the Old House for the escapees. But, oh well.

I can’t reconcile Vicki having a somnambulistic premonition about Daniel. Is this her first unimbedded premonition? Or does she actually have psychic powers? I don’t feel Daniel said enough about his situation at Collinwood to warrant Vicki having an organic dream about him being in danger.

Wow, Naomi guesses Barnabas is alive. I was pretty impressed, lol. Joshua denies it. Naomi says she heard Barn’s voice at the Old House. Joshua says it was Bathia and tells Naomi the whole the truth, but extracts Barnabas from the explanation.  Interesting dynamic here and I think it plays out as we might expect. Vicki’s execution is tomorrow at dusk. I hope this means we will soon be back in 1968 – although the last week or so has been pretty exciting. I think Vicki is wearing a new dress. Joshua apologizes to Vicki. This scene made me uncomfortable but I really am not sure why. It played out rather odd to me. I was happy that Joshua respected her enough to apologize but it made little sense to me. I just felt weird about it. Judge Hanley listens to Joshua’s plea for a stay of execution but refuses to reverse the court’s decision. I don't feel Joshua gave it his best shot. Joshua & Peter deliver the news to Vicki. Peter says goodbye, then decides to break Vicki out. Vicki gets shot in a struggle and escapes with Peter. How the angry mob let them get away I'll never know. No awards for this episode.

Boy oh boy, Frid sure got to ham it up, lol. I can’t believe I don’t remember any of this. I had no idea that the way to the tower room was from under the landing. Kinda cool. New dress for Naomi? Very beautiful – Bennett & the dress. Naomi speaks of Daniel as David. Gotta love Millicent freaking Nathan out by predicting a bad end for him and revealing to Naomi about Barnabas. Fake Angelique laugh, Bye-Bye Bathia by fire. None of us had a whole lot to say about this this ep. - which ironically speaks volumes.

OMGoodness, I unexpectedly loved this episode! You've got to give it to Anita Bolster for pulling off the ‘look’, lol. She gives a ‘fun’ performance in this. I don’t even remember it from my first viewing, at least not being this substantial. So much has only been made of her infamous blooper that I took for granted that she couldn’t act, or at least that it was her ‘only’ line. I am enjoying the character and the performance immensely – so this is a really nice surprise for me. Love, love, love her incantation scene re: the flame to bring Barnabas back to Collinwood and everything thereafter. This feels so out of the ordinary and is so interesting/engrossing to me. Her voice is off-the-charts fabulous.

Barrett is marvelous playing the ‘mad’ Millicent and Edmonds does a wonderful job as a remorseful Joshua. I guess it's a bit late in the game to ask, but does anyone think Joshua’s circumstances changed him or do you think he was always capable of deep sympathy. Great scene.

Random thought: Barnabas finally gets an attractive floozy and he gets summoned away. The editing is sometimes horrible in this episode.

Joshua waits for Natalie at the Old House. Upon entering, Natalie appears to be her old irreverent witty self with Joshua. I had a comic thought that Natalie might’ve thought for a moment that Joshua asked her there to start an affair. I enjoyed the entire scene as acted and written. Joshua’s desperation is palpable.

Is anyone feeling bad for Millicent? I sure am and I can barely stand to look at Nathan anymore. Good storytelling.

You’ve got to be amazed at the change in Joshua, maybe not surprised at this point, but somewhat in awe of his coming to grips with his circumstances. I love what the writers are doing with him.

Damn it, Millicent, shut your trap! Barrett is awesome – she gave me goose bumps.

Oh, Unc! I missed your special day. The trout pond sounds like my kind of place. I know you had a wonderful day because you were there.

Belated birthday hugs...

I had to miss the finale - I am happy the show is a success and that JLM has a hit on his hands. I caught Miller in a Richard Zanuck bio on TCM. DS (in production at the time) was prominently featured. Miller was bald, and seemed unlike any character I've ever seen him play.
