The opening shot of Vicki's window as seen from afar through the rustling tree is pretty cool but the opening as a whole is pretty sloppy. An open window banging frantically in Vicki's room produces no billowing curtains. We hear Roger's knock at Vicki's door before he reaches it. The voiceover is unusually split into three segments. The opening title is off-center, tho that may be a MPI glitch.

David is still in eavesdropping mode. From the hall side of her bedroom door, Roger softly insists that he must speak to Vicki. She hesitantly agrees and he promises to wait for her downstairs. Waiting, Roger gets a surprise visit from David who questions him about his accident and injuries. Roger has little patience (which is an improvement) but can only muster fatherly love for the briefest of moments before irritably brushing him off to bed. On his way, David detours to Vicki's room where he grills her for information on her upcoming meeting with his father and what may possibly result from it. Vicki tries to comfort him but runs out of time and sends him off to bed.

Vicki and Roger discuss Burkes being seen in the garage. Having learned from Roger that a missing bleeder valve caused his accident Vicki admits she saw Burke standing at the car, wrench in hand. After Vicki recounts the complete story Roger insists that she accompany him to the Collins Port Inn to confront Burke. She resists but he insists.

We already know David is guilty (correct?) but we are still treated to a scene of David somewhat reenacting the car crash with a toy car and a crushing hateful heel. Vicki, now fully dressed, surprises David readying to sneak into her room. He bolts back to his room and hides something he had in his hands. Vicki questions his motives but David steers the conversation back to her and where she may being going (now that she's dressed in street clothes and obviously ready to go out). Roger interrupts the party, impatient to leave for town. But David's little party is just beginning. Now alone, the hateful little bastard plants the bleeder valve in Vicki's chest of drawers.

This ep was somewhat boring.
Favorite Line: David says he's sorry to Roger about the accident and Roger replies - "Sorry for what? That I survived?!"
Caught Henesy looking at the teleprompter a few times.
Loved seeing Vicki today. She is Dark Shadows for me.

The tower room window, lol!

David has a sleepwalk-inducing nightmare. Unfortunately, Liz enters just in time to keep him from jumping out the window. Once awake he grills her hoping to discover that he hasn't given himself away as his father's (attempted) murderer. He has, actually, but Liz is too unsuspecting to realize it.

Fred Stewart as Doctor Reeves provides comic relief with his Lionel Barrymore imitation of a country doctor. The only thing missing is the wheelchair. He devilishly calls attention to every single elephant in the room regarding the accident AND Burke Devin. Apparently the entire town is abuzz with the news of Devlin's return and what it means for the jerks on the hill. No doubt word of the (second) accident will spread like wild fire - starting with the Camerons.

Bill Malloy, equipped with simple yet detailed diagrams, shows Roger why his car crashed. A missing bleeder valve is to blame. Roger is sure that Burke is the culprit (and who could blame him?!). Bill warns against jumping to conclusions.

Meanwhile, in the drawing room, Liz tries to occupy David with a family history lesson but to no avail. Upon his father's arrival David quickly scrams (but not too far).

Liz, Roger and Bill discuss the evening's events. Roger gets grand after Liz tells him Vicki saw Burke in the garage. Vowing to correct past mistakes, Roger is warned not to do so by making new ones. Having heard enough, he sends Liz to bed and Bill home.

Once again Roger ascends the foyer stairs to question Vicki about Burke. All the while David hid in plain sight eavesdropping.

Lots of fun lines in this episode. My favorite - Bill to Roger: "What are you gonna do? Beat it out of him with one arm?"
Liz got through it all without a single drop of tea!
I wonder if Lucy Cameron had a boy or a girl?
I thought Roger and Liz's display of genuine affection towards each other was rather touching.
I enjoyed Roger, Bill Malloy and Doctor Reeves very much in this episode.

Thanks for your kind mention, Bob. Moderating is a joy with our fine group of cousins here on the Forums. Having to read every post is at worst time consuming but not at all really and it's really fun and interesting and it is so cool to remain connected to something that brought me such joy from childhood. Being unofficially in charge of birthday greetings I see many familiar cousins profiles daily and see their distinct avatars and think back to their presence on the boards and smile
in remembrance. Glad you're still here contributing also.
