It occurred to me how great it would have been to summon the spirit of SUKI FORBES instead of "Danielle Roget," if they intended to milk the 1795 connection. It would have been equally interesting to have Suki play not only the life force but the body host as well. A great way not only for a new connection to 1795, but for more involvement w/Joe Haskell, who Suki might see as Nathan Forbes. Jane Draper was so enjoyable as Suki it's a shame they never brought her back.

I was thinking the exact same thing, Chris! As I watched the materialization of Danni Ragu I kept picturing the Suki Forbes character (especially in that dress) and about how it would have been great to use Jane Draper again. I never got as far as you though regarding the 1795 connection. You are very clever.

Hmm, the first deals that come to mind for me involve Liz and the first season storyline.

She made a deal with Jason to bury Paul*, keep it to himself and scram (for money?).

Liz also made a deal with Roger to say that he was the one who suggested Viki for the job of governess (in a round-about-way) which for his troubles he would not get kicked out of Collinwood (I think).

Also...

Burke made a deal with Mrs. J to snoop on the Collins' to help in his quest to nail Roger for the murder of Bill Mallloy. If I remember correctly, Mrs. J did it for free; turning down Burke's offer of $$$.

Roger made a deal with Sam Evans to frame Burke for the hit and run murder of the nameless pedestrian Roger killed. I think Sam got ten thousand dollars. I guess Roger also made a deal with Laura to frame Burke as well. She got him.

*And we all thought that it was John Lennon that buried Paul...

Has the scene aired that proves Nicholas is the one who raised Carolyn from the dead? Or are we all assuming that he did? I've been watching (and waiting) for an explanation but I don't recall seeing it. Maybe I missed it?

When I was a teenager, I actually thought Davis was pretty cute in 1795, and he and Vicki made a sweet couple.  Watching him as an adult, however,  I find him boorish, annoying, bombastic, self-involved and just plain DULL.  I would imagine Vicki would prefer Barnabas, Willie or even Carolyn to him!

Now, do you want me to tell you what I REALLY think?

Love, Robin

I'm with Robin on this one, as a kid I thought he was a doll and I even liked his acting because he was so extreme. Coming from a Sicilian family, I thought the extremism (most of all the yelling and hand gestures - lol) were more true to life than the more subdued acting styles of the day - so to speak, as I know DS was known for it's campy acting styles. Now as an adult I do admit that I wonder what I ever saw in Davis' characters, as now I don't even find him particularly attractive. And I find his acting style is just plain corny.

P.S. Adult & admit are not words according to  Spellcheck. >:(

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Most disturbing DS moments
« on: August 03, 2002, 07:36:07 PM »
SPOILERS

My two (first time around as a kid, not having seen the complete series) most disturbing moments were:

The shooting death of Julia in 1897 by an unknowing Barnabas as set up by Aristede. At that time I didn't know death was incidental. I thought she was dead and off the show and I was devastated!

The other was the on-screen (and very graphic) molestation of Maggie Evans by John Yeager (I guess that was 1970 PT?). I was both horrified and physically disgusted. I'd never seen anything like that on TV before and to have it happen to innocent Maggie, well it made me sick to my stomach (especially when he started licking his chops). I just didn't see it coming and I would have never expected to.

Dom (Who was a stupid kid and thought verbal bloopers and flies buzzing the studio were done on purpose to create a realism never before seen on TV.)

In the middle of all this discussion about the equipment in the lab and the sound effects when they are in use, I don't remember if anyone has commented on the fact that all this electrical stuff is being used in a 200 year old house that is still lit by candles...presumably because it's NEVER BEEN WIRED!!!

It occurred to me a day or two ago, while watching  Barnabas skulking around down in the lab, that there are CANDLES in the wall sconces, right in the middle of all the equipment.

Was the set director an idiot?  Why leave the candles to draw attention to a really stupid inconsistency?

I know, I know, these shows were never meant to be seen more than once, much less scrutinized by fanatics like us.  But some of these blunders were just TOO egregious....like candles right next to the gizmos and gadgets  ::)!

I'm almost positive that Jeff Clark explained this to Stokes the other day by stating that Hoffman had a generator installed to run the equipment. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I happened to see the great Pat Cooper on TV the other day.  Mr. Cooper says that when his wife puts Martha Stewart on the tube, he can't hear what Ms. Stewart is saying because she speaks so darned softly!  "You should try to arrange the flowers in this manner," she explains, in a sotto voce tone.  "Turn up the TV volume!" Mr. Cooper urges his wife.

By the way, the sixty-something Mr. Cooper reports that when he tried the new, blue wonder pill, Viagra, only his right leg stiffened up!  (Maybe Roger should have tried that pill before Cassandra split!)

BTB! I haven't seen or thought of Pat Cooper in centuries (except once)! What a bus load of memories your post brought back. PC records were a staple in my families' homes when I was growing up in the Sixties. I barely understood the jokes and I still laughed my face to soreness. I did happen to catch him on TV a few years ago but I have absolutely no recognition of it except for the way he looked. Thanks for the memory jolt!

...but Jeff's look yesterday was priceless when  Barnabas came in!

Agreed, Jennifer. That look of surprise was too much! I'm glad MB put it in the montage (a picture is worth a thousand words). It was rivaled only by Diana Walker's look of surprise in the foyer of Collinwood during her one time stint as Caroline Stoddard.

Considering the constant rejection Willie has faced from the females of Collinsport, I'd say Willie is ready for a walk on the wild side. I am throwing my hat into the ring...

I'd appreciate it if someone could post the MPI volume number that the current episodes are on. I am going to have to start viewing the tapes so I can watch the episodes earlier than I am able to watch them as they air, which is ten AM my time. Thanks :-* in advance.

Our phone number started with Juniper - 1. I still remember our (my) first phone number. Our phone numbers where drilled into our heads in kindergarten for safety purposes. Now-a-days kids have there own cell phones!

PS - My hubby remembers when you had to go through a switchboard and the party line phone numbers had two or three digits...now that's old , honey. :)

This could explains Adam's fixation on the very blond (if not quite as voluptuous) Carolyn Stoddard. And possibly gives us a hint of where Adam headed after leaving Collinsport...to L.A. where he became the mysterious "man in green " who once a week put a single mustard yellow rose in the vase adorning Marilyn's crypt.

An aside:  It has been rumored that the mysterious "man in green" was arrested and booked in England but later released for lack of evidence as a suspect in the attempted murder of Ted Jordan.  [lghy]
