My theory is that these are remnants of the black and white days of DS. It may have been that white did not film well (too bright) and that they had to use blues to give the illusion of white. The same goes for using different dark hues so that everything didn't look jet black. No proof, just a theory.

For a while during the Adam & Eve story it seemed that very bright yellow was the preferred color for sheets. One practically had to wear sunglasses!

Stroka's character in 1970 Parallel Time -- his name escapes me.  Can't stand him.  And the hair?????
I've never seen such ridiculous-looking hair in my life.  What WAS that??

LOL!

I hope this means we'll be treated to some hair-raising Bruno Hess storyboards in the future!

Connie, have you seen the picture that was taken of Michael Stroka during make-up with the maxi- curlers in his hair? It's a hoot!

The character Angelique. I totally and unequivocally despise her. Her antics in 1795 are unredeemable and in 1840 she got what she deserved.

SPOILER: I only wish they would have had Barnabas pull the trigger.

Dom...
Well, I would certainly like to hear a few captions.

No.  It's not hot in here at all.  It's DEFINITELY the Q-man.  I've got the vapors too, and as you can see, so does Minja.

love
CLC  ;)

Well, it's nice to know I'm in such good company. :)

PS - I'd have to send those captions in a brown paper bag!!! ;) ;D [blshy]

Among the rest of the not-too-savory things listed was the following: Cows Lips

A Few months ago I nearly fainted when after years of eating my favorite breakfast meat (hush, Midnite!), I read the ingredients on a package of Mexican chorizo. The two that stick out most in my memory are lymph nodes and salivary glands. The remainder of that package still lies "chained" buried deep within the confines of our freezer. We think of it as "the secret".

Gagging Dom (who wishes he could have seen the look on Midnite's face the moment she saw his name under this topic!) ;)

Thanks for the report, Yendor.

Dr. Smith is my alter ego. My friends just have to hear that I'm on my way to visit and they instantly become Dr. smith clones. It's hysterical. I end up getting dirty looks from their spouses upon my arrival, but it's well worth it. LOL.

I believe it is Gothick who has some fabulous Jonathan Harris anecdotes. (Sorry to put you on the spot, Tuffie darling. It is you, isn't it?)

Lost in Space was thee show when I was in grammar school. Those closed v-neck pullovers were all the rage.

Rest in peace, Dr. Smith/Mr. Harris, and thanks for the warm and wonderful memories...

I think it's the RR, Nancy. (But don't take my word for it). I lived on West 72nd and Central Park West (in the latter 70s - more commonly known as Dom's Grace Jones period, lol) and offered to house sit for a workmate in Brooklyn once. It was the longest train ride in mass transit history (not to mention the longest train). I'm almost certain that it crossed the river via the undercarriage of the Brooklyn Bridge (is that even possible?). The train had to travel about five miles an hour because of it's length and weight. It was a torturous ride - on a full train - in summer - with my infant son in tow. The best part of the trip was all the "old ladies" who gave me free advise on how to care for him. I mentioned he had a rash and I got five different cures from five different women. The best part was that every time one of them would off board, the rest would say she didn't know what she was talking about. The last lady remaining had suggested cornstarch, so I went with that, lol. Uh, where was I? Oh yeah, I think it's the RR. (But don't take my word for it.) ;D

For me, it's during the Leviathan storyline where she wants to live the life of a mortal woman, married to Sky Rumson, ignoring her powers and roll as a witch.

This is my favorite "enter Angelique" moment in the series. I never saw it coming and I had to SOL. Yes, I am with you Gerard, the Leviathan Angelique is my fave, as well.

Dom

PS - Acclaim wise though, I think 1897 Angelique is the best Parker portrayal of the character. I just had to watch a few eps ahead today and I must say, L.P. is turning in a brilliant performance so far.

MY GOODNESS!

If there weren't underaged innocents on this forum I'd surely know how to respond to this!

PS - Is it hot in here or is it just the Q-man that's giving me the vapors!?!

Current Talk '02 II / Re: And Jaclyn Smith as Victoria Winters

Is it known why Bestsy Durkin was replaced by Carolyn Groves? The only thing (IMHO) that kept C. Groves from being a perfect replacement was the tone of her voice - too much "street" and not enough "orphanage".

Dom

PS - I love Maria_Merriweather's suggestion of Mia Farrow, as a contemporary of A.M., being capable of playing Victoria Winters.

Current Talk '02 II / Sandor & Jamison
« on: November 02, 2002, 12:12:50 PM »
Todays episodes (11/01) were some of the best I've seen. They were practically flawless and they ran the gamut of emotions from intense to hysterical.

One of my favorites was the scene in the cottage between Sandor and Jamison. I absolutely loved it when Sandor (marvelously played by Thayer David - when isn't he marvelous?) after putting up with Jamison's intrusive questioning gets up in his face and warns in a most sinister tone, "I advise you to go back to Collinwood, it's going to be dark soon. Heh heh heh heh heh." And Jamison runs out the door in fear (and I imagine, soiled pants). One word - PRICELESS!

You took most of the words right out of my mouth, Josette!

I am not an Angelique fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I loved todays scenes with her. They were perfectly executed and showed Lara Parker at the top of her game (IMHO). Her performance was a lot less over the top (calm and confident) and it worked to sheer perfection.  And she looked ravishing! Her costume was awesome and she looked splendid in it. I couldn't take me eyes off of her (which is usually not the case for me). Her "handling" of Evan and seduction of Quentin in the cottage was to die for. Classic Angelique! And she's back with a vengeance.

I kept thinking, these boys have played with fire and now they are going to get burned.

Current Talk '02 II / Who Done It?
« on: November 02, 2002, 09:44:53 AM »
Who do you think is haunting Quentin?

I've been wondering if it is actually Grandmama's ghost. My first thought is that it was Barnabas that was creating the heartbeat. After all, it is one of his trademarks. And his warning to Quentin (about restless spirits) was made in a very cryptic manner. Then I had wondered who ransacked Quentin's quarters. I figured it was Barn as well, but then the thought did occur to me that it may have been Dirk. I figured he may have done it because he is jealous of Quentin's pursuit of Beth. It's obvious (to me) that Dirk is the man Beth has been seeing up until now. Grandmama's glove has got me stumped. I'd chalk that trick up to Barnabas as well. I really can't pinpoint why, but I don't get the feeling that Grandmama is doing the haunting. I don't remember if this is resolved in the story.

dom

P.S. My two favorite Quentin moments today were the blooper and the slobber. The saliva spilling over his bottom lip as he choked his Grandmother in his dream added such intensity to that scene. It was rather startling.

I had to lol when he referred to Barnabas Collins as Barnabas Cousin. I'd forgotten about this blooper and it caught me off guard. I just know as soon as my head hits the pillow tonight I am going to think of it and start giggling uncontrollably.
