Spoilers herein:

Dom -- That's very interesting and makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure how you came up with your theory as I don't remember hearing what Petofi had done to anger the gypsies. Maybe I missed an episode last time when this was referred to.

I don't know where I come up with this stuff. I am usually wrong but somewhat close. I think I remember it being said at some point that Petofi murdered a bunch of gypsies, thus starting the conflict between the two.

****SPOILER******

Is it ever explained how Petofi is cured of his lycanthropy (or whatever it is)? By sacrificing his hand?

Yes. No.

Current Talk '03 I / Re: Four Secret Rooms/Passages in Old House
« on: January 28, 2003, 06:05:28 PM »
This is a stretch; but perhaps the cell in the basement would be considered a secret room. There is an episode where someone goes into the basement on a search for Barnabas' coffin and they look around as if the basement (containing Barn's coffin) is the only room down there (which doesn't really make sense - but let's face it, this is indicative of the show). Under these circumstances the scenario fits. The tunnel from that cell could count as a secret passageway as well. I'm assuming that, that tunnel connects with the tunnel leading to the beach (which I am also assuming is the same one we refer to as the tunnel leading to the cave). There is also an episode (or two?) where it appears as if someone walks right into the basement from the cave tunnel as if they didn't have to figure out how to open and climb through the brick wall (in the cell).

Can I ask....ballpark...how much $$$ did you pay and do you have ALL (the whole series, not just Barn)?

Patti

Hi Patti,

I believe I paid 4k for the series - give or take. I'd hate to think of how much I've actually paid since I am still paying it off! I started purchasing my collection with the Collector's Series.

Connie dear, for you I measured the space my tapes take up, at 6AM, before my second cup of coffee! If that isn't love, I don't know what is! :-* Two deep (library style) they take up just under eleven feet.

Good luck with the interviews, Luciaphil!

...and also that there is no information whatever on who produced or marketed the 1970 music box replicas.

Perhaps someone who possesses the 16 Magazines of the era may be able to find an ad for the sale of the music box which inturn may state the info you are looking for?

The Czar and his family weren't gypsies were they?

SPOILER***********************************

I am under the impression that Count Petofi slaughtered nine gypsies and was turned into a werewolf because of this? Hence the slaughtered nine...am I wrong (as usual, lol)?

Hooray for you, Suki! Welcome to the foal. I bought all the tapes from MPI several years ago (and I'm still paying off that credit card bill, lol). I consider them one of my most prized possessions. I don't get Sci-fi so I am thankful to have them to be able to participate in episodial (huh?) discussions.

Addicted? Hmm, let's see. I hadn't watched since the show went on hiatus in November. When I finally got a chance to catch up (Jan. 16) I was so enthralled that I couldn't stop watching and am now several weeks ahead of Sci-fi. One morning I watched approx. 25 episodes! I think that qualifies me as addicted. ;)

I had missed a great majority of the show as a kid and never in a million years thought I'd ever be able to see it all, never mind "again"! Watching the show from day one (my favorite episode) to the end fulfilled a life long dream I never thought would come true.

Happy, happier, happiest, Dom

PS - Welcome to the world of the posting!

I can see it now: Carolyn sitting at the Blue Whale after her breakup with Buz(z), visibly shaken and distraught as The Shangri-las sing, Leader Of The Pack. "...and now he's gone. Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone, gone..."

Just think of the 60s songs they could have put on the juke box for our favorite characters to play to suit their moods!

If only,
dom (Picturing Maggie putting a quarter in the juke box to listen to, My World Is Empty Without You, after her breakup with Joe.)

Hmmm...my life is actually becoming a bit too DS-like for my taste.  Little occurrences have led me to suspect that my apartment is haunted.  For example, I always leave my shower curtain open after showering because I like the air to circulate in the tub area to dry it out.  On several occasions, I have gone out for the day and returned home to find that shower curtain is closed.

Apartment? I don't mean to sound creepy, but I'd check for a hidden camera if I were you, John. Especially if the super wears a lot of leather. ;)

Hi Adra,

You can purchase a chiming clock that plays Westminster. That is the "melody" that the grandfather clock in the foyer at Collinwood plays; Then hide your red diary in it. <giggle>

My humble problem with that scene was the fact that Edward didn't stake him in the heart -- it was in his stomach.  A couple of more inches down, and it would have gone right through his navel.

I noticed that too, Connie.

I have a humble problem myself - how weak is Edward anyway? He had to use all of his strength to open Dirk's casket lid which was obviously not THAT heavy. I guess we'd find no calluses on Edward's hands...

Current Talk '03 I / Re: Her Wardrobe Runneth Over. . .
« on: January 23, 2003, 09:56:37 PM »
I'll take a stab at guessing about Judith's wardrobe in 1897. Maybe it establishes her station. One would expect a woman of her stature to have an extensive (and fancy) wardrobe, whereas you wouldn't expect the servants, governess', or a subordinate grand daughter for that matter to have such a splendid array. Could also be a way to show that now that she has money up the wahzoo she is enjoying it - ie. spending it on herself making up for a lifetime of subordination. I can't think of any other female character presently on the show who's station would warrant an extensive (and high-class) wardrobe. Her absence at times is usually explained by her being in Collinsport - maybe she is at the dressmakers viewing and ordering the latest fashions...

Yep, that was me. Started early, wanted a big Italian family. Fate had the last laugh though. ;)
