Current Talk '04 I / Re:DS - Could It Have Continued To Today?

Nicely stated, Luciaphil.

I'd only add that the production values would have had to increase dramatically. I think the 'live to tape' would have to stop, tombstones would need to be stable, microphone booms would have to stay out of frame, squeeky camera stand wheels would need to be oiled on a regular basis, doors would need to remain shut once closed, and production assistants would need to stay out of frame, etc. And perhaps using actors with a bit more experience than they had in the past. JMHO of course.

It could have had something to do with the 'five characters per episode' unwritten rule of production cost that kept him from appearing more often. Perhaps his character was the least important to the plot during this time period, hence his 'non-use'. Just a (non-educated) guess on my part.  ;D

The pre-Barns are my favorite, hands down. (With episode one being my all-time fave.) Liz, Roger, and Vicki and their interactions with the other characters are my favorite aspect of these earlier episodes. Of course along with every other good thing said about them in this thread.

I first saw these episodes about ten years ago on home video. I don't think I would have the same opinion (then, as I do now) had I seen them when they first aired. Back then I was more than happy with the show turned out.

The pre-Barns seem to be more about discovering and investigating secrets (that we weren't in on). And I realy like that aspect of it, along with the nostalgia of B&W which is a  large part of the appeal for me as well.

Anne, Connie,

Do you have a favorite Quentin? Like which time period or Storyline? Good Quentin, bad Quentin, zombie Quentin, Grant Douglas Quentin, PT Quentin, 1995 Quentin, 1840?

It's hard to choose, huh?

My favorite Quentin is the one who returned home during the 1897 storyline. I like the Quentin as Quentin, Quentin (lol) before everything starting going wrong for him. My favorite scenes are the one's where he interacts with his family, the gypsies, and of course Trask. I like watching Selby while acting with other males, I mean, I think he does his best work when sharing a scene with other male actors (particularly Edmonds and Lacy). The only two women I really enjoyed watching him play a scene with are Bennett as Judith and Hall as Magda. (Incidentaly, I think the actress who played off of Selby best was Grayson Hall.) Of course his visit with grandmother Edith is priceless. Yeah, my fave is the menacing, sarcastic, greedy, and totally human Quentin.

Wishing you the best in life, and hoping all your dreams for the future come to be.

Check out the news page of my site to see a new photograph from the pilot:

:)

I was expecting a still from the actual pilot, Stuart. Not a photo op.  :( Great pic though. The "new" Willie is so cute.

I'd likely place the blame on the pilot itself. It will be interesting to see how the discussion shifts once official word of a pass is out.

Let the witch hunt begin...  ::)

Hopefully, we'll find out exactly why the WB passed on the pilot. I would be very interested in learning why, and if the folks (that may be) shopping it to other networks are making any changes to the pilot as a result of the WB's pass.

It would be great if they could show the pilot at the fest, so we could see it for ourselves and perhaps come to our own conclusions. It would make for a fabuolous discussion, IMO.

If the new DS does make it to prime time, it will be interesting to see if there are any cast changes.

All this and still no official word from the WB.  ::)

Thanks Mary. Finally, someone not afraid to tell what they know, it's like a breath of fresh air.

Good going.
