Hi Connie! ('twas great meeting you & your son @ the fest...)

Yes, this happens to me. I'm coming off a DS dry spell (ie: bored and uninterested). The current posting of the 1897 Robservations (w/fabulous captures) & Luciaphil's column starting w/episode one has once again given me the DS itch. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no time to spare to watch my videos.

I am moving to NJ, and if I were able to take my tapes, I would definitely take the Collector's Series portion of the shows run. I do plan on buying the DVDs when they are released: Wish it were sooner rather than later. I guess I will be in a reluctant self-imposed dry spell until then. The one thing I never tire of though are pictures I haven't seen before, or captures of the like that JC posted of Julia & Barn recently.

Well, we now finally have the substantiated answers to so many of our unanswered questions.
What a well researched and poignant article. I am especially pleased that the appearance
of the DS fans that showed up for the service was comforting to his sister.

Love that wig...of course, stills, don't do it justice. I've mentioned in the past that there was a gal in San Francisco that I used to see at a particular lunch spot that resembled Grayson as she appears in this period of the show. I always thought it to be too coincidental that this woman would arbitrarily pick this look. Never had the nerve to approach her about it. What fun it was though staring at her and thinking, "Grayson 67".

Great captures, JC. Lighting the cigarette off the candle...What a hoot! That whole scene was fab & rad.

Isn't it amazing that some of the greatest movies of all time haven't seen the light of day on DVD, and yet some productions less noteworthy seemed to be released on a regular basis, (thank goodness).

I wish that they had never ceased using AM for the opening voiceovers. "My name is Victoria Winters..." was as much to me an "icon" of the show as Barn's ring, cane, or any other prop and/or whatever icon of the show. I remember not hearing it for the first time and feeling a great sense of loss. 

But that aside, there sure were some fantastic post-VW opening voiceovers weren't there?

1897 always brings back the DS thrill to me. It was during this storyline that I started watching DS full time (as a kid). The captures along with the wonderfull montages take me back to when I'd buy 16 Magazine and see entrancing images of the cast in costume. I couldn't wait for the next issue! I especially loved the glossy page with four color images. With only a black and white TV in the house, the color images were priceless! And I loved Barn in glam (drag) mode. All that glorious over-the-top makeup!

They were the best of times!
