You know, if Frid were to attend a fest, I think it would be very smart for the organizers to book the fest at a venue that was very large because I would expect an appearance by Frid to increase the fest attendence by hundreds. Tarrytown didn't strike me as a good venue for an exceptionally large gathering.

David Henesy would also qualify as a very special mystery guest.

If it were Frid, it would be cool to hear him, AM, & NB recreate the 'Josette story' scene (from the early years) with sound and visual fx.

This was a pretty good episode.

While I enjoyed mscbryk's acerbic and very funny fashion review, I thought Liz looked great, though as Lydia pointed out - it hardly seemed appropriate under the circumstances.

Though hard to believe, I guess I can understand why Carolyn convinced herself that Liz would back up Jason's throwing her out. Once she caved in to his demands of picking up the 'book' off the bedroom floor, we had to know Carolyn's goose was cooked. She really should have picked it up and given him a black eye with it. I've been laughing off most of Jason's bullcrap but for some reason this scene made me want to punch him square in the face.

Forgive me for reaching this far back but I had to mention that Joel Crothers' scene with NB was so awesome. I don't think he's ever done a better job than he did in this scene - maybe equaled - but never better. His delivery was perfectly understated.  It was such a pleasure to watch.

I really enjoy Barnabas when he is not in Vampire mode. His scenes with Liz & Vicki were great. The way he talks, the words he speaks (maybe vamp talk is just corny - regardless of the delivery), well, he is just so human - I love it.

No one's been mentioning the new tunes we've been hearing played on the jukebox at the Blue Whale. Amazingly, they are not on the 'complete' music library CD. Perhaps they were not original Colbert tunes? I did notice one or two numbers missing from the cue list but whether or not these 'new' songs represent those missing #'s is anyone's guess.

I know a person doesn't stay wealthy by giving their money away, but Burke being annoyed that he didn't get his dime back from the public phone was asinine as played by AG and out of character for Burke.

I liked this episode very much - from what I remember.

Let's face it - no matter who showed up, with the possible exception of Carolyn who is pretty stupid these days - they would have figured it out and Liz would have never followed thru as it was too obvious that she planned to go for it. But it did make sense for Vicki to be the one and the scene played out beautifully.

Did anyone notice how Liz's spine literally snapped back into place once Vicki stated that it was not in Jason's best interest to turn her in, because of his involvement in the crime. I loved how Joan played that scene, ending with her telling Vicki it was okay to leave her alone with Jason and her discussion with him culminating in the proclamation that their's would not be a proper marriage (or was it traditional marriage, or something like that). Sexual thoughts aside, you just knew that Liz was telliing him that she would not be playing the stereotypical role of wife - that he was going to be as miserable as she, one way or another. I wonder if Jason thought he'd be having a sexual relationship with Liz once they tied the knot? I mean, he really could make her do whatever he wanted it seemed. I can't picture it.

Needless to say - it was a big let-down at eps end when Liz's spine reverted back to mush but I don't feel the need to take it out on the episode as I would give this one very high marks. Even the widows get a free pass.

Oh! I almost forgot!  Hurray for Vicki!!!  ;D

And I was wondering how interesting it would have been to have Alexandra Moltke play the young Liz.

Liz runs really, really, really slow, no?

I found Joan's performance uneven. I keep wondering if Joan or the director is to blame when her performances fall flat. The other day when she was dispondant and just kept repeating everything that was said to her as if in a daze drove me up the wall. I thought it was a poor choice of acting style or technique. I do wonder though if anyone on the set dared tell Joan how to approach a scene.

Carolyn drops the gun on the floor and no one noticed?

Still miss MR's Burke. AG isn't butch enough for the role. Everything he does is anti-climatic. His trying to verbally control Jason during Liz's confession was laughable. I'd much rather have had Mrs J there instead of Burke - silently and ulitmately happy to not have to play (on the piano) and sing Oh Promise Me after the nuptials. Just think of the comic relief Mrs J's practicing would have provided.

The basement is a weird space. Anyone notice the basement floor has fallen about 8 inches since the 40s? Maybe that was my imagination. It also cleaned itself up pretty good seeing how Jason left it a mess. I won't mention the flexible flagstones, oh, I just did. And my pet peeve - Weird enough having a large window in the basement, but to be able to see the lightning flash through it is a bit too much.

Don't you think the judge had an obligation to phone the authorities? Nice to have friends in high places I guess. Another poor acting job but who cares.

I was happy with Roger & Vicki in this episode. Roger's offering to privatize Liz's confession and admonishing Vicki for not spilling the beans on Liz to him - well, they could have just had him stand there in shocked silence. Carolyn seemed kind of a wasted character but I get it - it was all about Liz in this episode. The next ep will probably focus more on Carolyn and her murderous intentions - along with how she is going to deal with the confession.

Liz implicated Jason beautifully. Made it sound as though he were in on the plot ("my accomplice"), that is until she tells the story of what happened that night. Would have been cool if they'd had Jason insist that the wedding date be the anniversary of Pauls death - just to make it all that much more repugnant.

The camera work in this episode was pretty damn good. The drawing room looked huge compared to usual. And I think it was during Carolyn's little speech that all the characters lined up beautifully in the shot.

Too bad Barn was not in attendance - I can picture him holding up his cane horizontally to stop Jason from leaving the room when Jason announced he was leaving, not saying a word but having that 'look' on his face.

I gotta give this ep a low rating. It should have been a very powerful ep but it was bungled by lackluster acting and writing.
