I am going to assume that Vicki placated Burke at the Blue Whale because she hasn't seen Barnabas since then. (I am not keeping track of time, perhaps it was last night and what I am saying is moot) but she certainly had no hesitation when she opened the door to him.

The scene with Vicki and Burke played out well. I certainly like Alexandra's soft spoken acting style and it worked beautifully in this scene. Everything that transpired pretty much made sense -- the only thing that gave me pause was Vicki's statement that she couldn't marry Burke if he continued his surveillance/investigation of Barnabas. I think that was a bit extreme. And I was surprised the writers had her be so up front about her distaste for Burke at that moment when she turned her head away from his kiss. I would have thought that Vicki would have waited to show him a sign of disapproval after everyone had gone.

Do you think everyone was ready to go or do you think they left because of the tension between Burke and Vicki?

Oh yeah, lovin' the interplay between the Evans' & Joe. I credit KLS' acting style for that. She is a such a great "natural" actress. I think she is basically just playing herself here. Goodness knows her stint as Lady Kitty was godawful so she's no Betty Davis who can count on mannerisms as acting tools. Maggie is a great character. And I agree that they do make for an endearing family unit.

I don't like him now right now.

He was one of my childhood heroes. I credit the character for subliminally teaching me that doing the right thing was the right thing to do, family first, and to have a conscience, empathy, sympathy, a sense of ethics, etc. Well, it helped having that example, latch key kid here, no sibling love, divorced parents, etc.

I started watching the OS during 1897, so I only knew the good Barn --was so shocked to see the nasty Barn when I started watching from the beginning all those years later.

Yeah, you gotta wonder if Sarah would have taken David to the crypt if Barn was still using it to rest during the day. Does Sarah need any more reason to expose Barn than she all ready has? At this point I have to assume that she has no intention of exposing or bringing harm to Barn. I mean, she won't even appear to him. There's gotta be something up with that.

(gotta walk the dog)

Perhaps she's channeling Zasu Pitts.

And I knew us when we were just a twinkle in your eye, lol. Congrat's to MB & Midnite on 30,000,000 + page views!

This is as good a time as any to say thanks for a great place to experience Dark Shadows, past, present & future -- Intellectually & jovially. I thank you both for all you do here to make it enjoyable for fans of all it's incarnations.

Thanx for answering my questions, DL, I don't know why I insist on changing Sarah's storyline. Maybe it'll sink in this time. Your thoughts re: Barn's guilt over Sarah make sense. Maybe I'd be more sensitive to it if I liked either of them.

Did Sarah appear at the top of the stairs? Does that put her in the timeline before Maggie's kidnapping?

Thank goodness David had the skills to save the crypt scene. I do like the way David's character is written. Sometimes I wonder if he's ad libbing.

This episode started off a hot mess with delayed music & sound cues & entrances, forgotten lines, equipment noise, etc. and continued throughout with bad camera angles.

Barnabas is obnoxious with Julia. He is obviously feeling better. And he put Julia in her place somewhat civilly, though rudely. He didn't threaten to kill her for once, let's put it that way.

I very much liked the scene with Vicki and Barn though Frid really messed it up. He had some particularly fine moments though, I will give him that.

I like how David doesn't lie but doesn't snitch either. So instead of lying as a way not to be rude or get in trouble he's honest and then clams up.

So Sarah isn't ready to face Barnabas. Any guess why is just as good as any other. Why does Barn need Sarah? What can she do for him? Is he going to beg her to not expose him? I wonder if he's even considered that she might need him?

I'm tiring of the same six or seven characters every day.

I really liked the soft rubber tree trunk and the hair glue. I'm only sorry I missed the fake dead bush.

Everything else was pretty much more of the same. I kept thinking that this was a dull Friday cliffhanger show, but maybe by now the schedule had been altered by an assassination or some other typical '60s tragedy. This episode was pretty boring.

It is interesting to think about just how much Grayson played a role in the show's survival. She really is fun to watch and makes Barnabas a much more interesting character. Usually those who know Barn's a vampire are afraid of him and are his servants so there isn't much for him to do as himself but order and threaten (and that gets so old so fast). So now we have Julia and Sarah to bring out his human qualities. And yes the injections make it physically possible.

I just don't know if it's the actors or the writers that should get the credit.

I've gone back and forth with Sarah so many times that I now totally dislike the character and can't wait for her to be gone, and her little song too. Just what does being a ghost do for you other than bring you back from the great beyond? Does she even know she's a ghost or even dead? Is everything she knows what she knew before she died or does being a ghost afford her knowledge unbeknownst to her while living. It is really hard for me to make sense of the character. The only thing that makes sense to me is that she is a little girl first and a ghost second with no special powers of any kind other than materializing and disappearing at will.

And the Emmy goes to the fake dead bush.

Thanx for providing such beautiful captures, MB. And posting them for those of us who weren't fortunate enough to be able to watch it ourselves. What a treat!

After watching the OS on VHS tapes on one of those giant plastic screen rear projection TVs today, these seem like they were taken on set!
