Wow, DarkLady, I don't remember there being another (1st) Dr. Woodard. I'll have to look him up.

I wonder how Jon's letter coincides with Gerringer's departure, being they had meetings and whatnot. There must have been a picket line to get fired for not crossing. Maybe another letter will explain it. BTW, thanks MB for posting these letters, I've heard of their existence but have never had the opportunity to read them. And their placement in the watching project makes it all the more interesting (and fun).

So, David’s had enough of Sarah’s BS and demands her presence, and she obliges. Too bad David doesn’t have two crystal balls. Sarah is evasive in the face of David’s plea for help. Oh, I’ve been wanting to ask this; Can a 10-year-old girl have hair that long? Is it biologically possible?

So, it was Barn who "glued" the ring, but, it’s not a recorder, it’s a flute. The scene with David and Sarah made me think of the young 2012 Maggie.

David is wearing floods, lol.

David gets a visit from a shrink. So weird seeing a new face on the show. Two new faces in this episode. Woodard is becoming like a dog with a bone with this David/Barnabas/Maggie thang (it should be the sheriff!) but I am surprised that he is not going after Julia.

I was fascinated by the shrink’s prediagnosis of David’s “illness”. The writers gave so much airtime to it when we know David is not mentally ill (well, you know what I mean). I am also thinking about how it is representative of professionals so willing to label patients as broken and back it up with research. I like that they went into such detail so as to convince us that the elders would be convinced. It was so un-DS to me. I’m betting on Liz to follow her instincts and keep David at Collinwood. (Roger should have been there or his absence should have been explained.)

So, do you think Woodard’s figured out that Barn’s a vampire? He’s certainly figured something out thanks to the shrink finishing up his professional opinion with Barn’s portrait as a backdrop.

I can’t help but wonder if they are tying up the Seaview story-line with a "no-go", for Burke & Vicki, or if things are still going as planned. LOL, Liz is so gracious and generous, she gives dwellings away as gifts. I love it.

I thought for sure Woodard was going to get into the mausoleum’s secret room. So, I’m at the edge of my seat biting my nails and...…Sarah shows up. <eye roll> I am SO happy she is fluteless.

Poor Joan Bennett couldn’t spit out the word “solution” to save her life. I liked this episode, mostly because it was different than what I’ve been accustomed to watching lately- with the shrink and all. I am of course heartbroken that Gerringer has been replaced. DarkLady, is this the last we hear of Seaview and that whole story-line or am I reading you wrong?

Wow, I missed the stuff about Roger and the portraits. I guess I'll have to start watching twice. Once all the way through and then once to refresh as I type.

LOL, AD, that line should be quoted and shown at every given opportunity. I may use it as a new signature.

Someone reported here not too long ago that the writers approached the story (the show?) as though the vampire literature we know had never been written. Not that we, the audience, could have known that. I don't know if this was substantiated.

My computer isn't able to do that, but thanks for the tip, MB. I'm sure it will help others who can utilize it.

Yeah, I wonder? Karlen is gone and perhaps that's because without Barnabas there is no need for Willie. I know they all ready have decided to go into the past, but still, that doesn't mean they'd have to rewrite Willie's part to keep him on.

What a good book that would make, a comparison study of the intended story-line parallel to the actual story-line or some thing of that nature. I wonder who is still alive that could take on such a project (and wouldn't lie about it, lol).

Alexandra does the opening voiceover and that makes me happy.

Burke: “Strange man.”
Woodard: “Strange family.”

Edmond’s must have had a ball delivering his dialogue because I had a blast watching & listening to it. Roger chastises Burke & Woodard for going to the Old House and “harassing” Barnabas with David’s “wild” accusations. Great stuff! I’d love to know the intent of the writers having Roger peer at the portrait in the drawing room and turn to face the camera with a concerned/worried/knowing look on his face? What do you think? My gut is telling me that Roger might believe in a family curse of insanity or something. Or maybe he’s silently pleading for help from his incestor, uh, I mean, ancestor from the great beyond?

Love it when we see Roger’s caring side. I am always grateful to be reminded that he does love his son. It’s perhaps the one thing that broke my heart in the 2012 movie –
that Roger took the money and ran.
Wow, David spills the beans about the mausoleum’s secret room. Wow, Roger let’s Dr. Woodard & Burke take David to the Mausoleum. I think I was as devastated as David when the ring in the lion’s/wolf’s mouth wouldn’t pull & open the panel. Once again, Sarah is getting credit for impeding progress but I think it was Barn who did it (regardless of the flute – btw, I thought it was a recorder, but whatever). Well, Barn should have done it.

Is this Gerringer’s last episode? It’s as if he knew. He really did give it all he’s got and then that little extra; again with “the look” as he closes David’s bedroom window.

Alexandra does the closing production call.

I enjoyed this episode. The story is moving along nicely and seems to be reaching some sort of climax.

This is one time I don’t mind seeing a repeat of yesterday’s closing scene. Creepy!

Julia: “Barnabas, I hope you know what you’re doing.”

Well, of all the scenarios I imagined, none of them included Barnabas letting David go. Henesy is on point displaying David’s relief at being let go. It seems pretty obvious how Barn’s gonna let this play out. I’m guessing he will move the coffin and make David look foolish again, though it doesn’t look like he is moving in that direction just sitting there in his chair grinning like the cat that just swallowed the canary.

Grayson’s green outfit and green scarf look so deliciously rich on the Old House set. Must be the lighting and the Old House color scheme.

On the VHS version the next scene with Burke and Dr. Woodard seems to be missing time in the beginning as it starts rather abruptly in what appears to be mid-sentence. Great scene content – Woodard gets Burke to admit his suspicions about Barn being the maniac! And then David comes running in telling all he’s just seen at the Old House! Then!, Julia comes in and bursts David’s bubble. David wasted no time blabbing, lol. I’m lovin’ Henesy right now.

I really thought the whole troupe was going to march down to the Old House. I did like Roger’s incredulousness directed at Burke and Woodard, and Barnabas’ as well. For a split second I thought I might be wrong about Barn hiding the coffin.

You had to love the scene that looked as though Barn was leading Burke and Woodard to slaughter. Woodard’s look back before descending into the basement was priceless.  A. George just had to touch that brick wall didn’t he?

Again, Grayson does the closing production call.

Love the voiceover as written, which is wonderfully delivered by G. Hall, giving way to the image of evil, uh, I mean Barnabas at the Old House window. Loved the whole setup/intro.

The opening scenes are a mess but I like them anyway; there’s a lot of good stuff to crow about. OMGoodness, the way Frid raised his eyebrow when Julia said it was time for the injection, lol. And then he goes at her snidely (of course). I absolutely love it when Grayson yells out the word no. I used to make a cousin of mine laugh when I would do my Grayson yelling “NO!” imitation. So I smiled wide when she yelled it out after Barn grabbed her by the throat. And we so knew it was coming, and, by the way Julia backed away from Barn, I think she knew it was coming too.

Julia: “Harm me and you’ll never be safe. Never!” Barnabas admitting he’s frightened in this moment seems like some sort of milestone. By appearances, Julia seems to have convinced Barn that he is safe in her hands, that she can be trusted to look out for him and that she is, as he insists she must be, loyal. Barn mentions taking Josette as his bride – I needed to hear that for some reason. I wasn’t sure what his goal was anymore.

Okay, who cut the legs off the drawing room sofa? Did anyone keep a straight face while Julia was pouring tea?

The conversation between Roger and Julia was great. Apparently Mrs. Johnson, though not seen, is still a gossip, having told Julia about Dr. Woodard visiting David. The scene went well. I chuckled when Roger said that Barnabas wasn’t too upset about being told about David. I’m sure Julia begs to differ.

David is desperate at the thought of being sent away. And it leads him to desperate measures. BTW, does anyone think that the toy soldier looks like William DeFoe?

When I saw Alexandra I immediately felt disappointed that she didn’t do the opening voiceover (even though Grayson did a marvelous job at it). Vicki tells Julia about the toy soldier which leads to the discovery of yet again, a missing David. They both conclude that he must be at the Old House. I like the way Julia jumps at Vicki's mentioning that it is getting dark. Once again Julia is pressed into her true calling – actress.

With stolen keys in hand, David enters the Old House basement, discovers the open coffin and gets the fright of his life. And I must confess that I ended the episode with one-inch high goose bumps.

Grayson does the closing production call. Groovy!
