Never having been to a fest, does security or DS Fest representatives have the final say on disruptive guests?

Hotel security, assisted by police, if necessary, would probably have the responsibility of actually removing someone from the place. My guess is that the convention staff would have to indicate to security they were having a problem beyond their control.

That's just my educated guess; I could be wrong. Personally, I'm thinking that con staff members should be given authority by means of whatever spells, incantations, magical elixirs, human sacrifices, and/or rites of summoning supernatural horrors might be necessary to get the situation under control.

Yeah, my first thought was that I feel bad for the poor fellow, since he's obviously got problems that are to some degree out of his control. A measure of compassion is in order. On the other hand, I have to wonder why he's going around the fest unsupervised doing this kind of thing. Once is a lapse of judgment on someone's part; twice is outright inexcusable. If he's not responsible for himself, the person or persons in charge of him should be acting quickly to keep him from disrupting the event. If he's deemed responsible enough to be on his own, then he should be shown the door and not allowed to come back.

Yeah, I remember the Helter Skelter days, although being pretty young, the whole bizarre episode was kinda out there and surreal for me. It wasn't until several years later that the Manson family business made a real impact on me. I certainly remember seeing Manson on TV and being bemused by the "raving hippie." The whole thing is helluva fascinating study of psychodelic insanity.

I've always enjoyed the movie Helter Skelter, especially in that the characters all appear quite true to life, especially Steve Railsback as Manson. And DS's own George DiCenzo is excellent as Bugliosi.

Mercy, that was the first I'd heard that John Entwhistle had died. I was always very keen on his contributions to The Who, one of my all-time favorite rock bands. I also liked Too Late the Hero very much. That's very sad news. Thanks for posting it, Ringo.

Bad, evil, wicked DS fans! Yes, gracious... due to your overwhelming support, I have found myself unable to avoid writing another chapter in Labyrinth of Souls. I've got a couple of projects with my agent that I'm waiting to hear back on, and another possibility down the pike... so in the interim, thinks I, what better way to keep the writing going than with a bit more DS?

So, to punish you people for your impertinence, I have posted CHAPTER 4 at:

http://home.triad.rr.com/smrainey/labyrinth04.htm

Take that! And that!

And the DVD reviewer thought that some of the actors "hamm[ed] it up to ridiculous extremes" while others played their roles "more sedately"?  A controversial observation to make, I daresay ...

Actually, this seems a very safe way of putting it, since he didn't single anyone out and it covers all the bases. After all... one can always point out that someone like, oh, Joan Bennett hammed it up to "ridiculous extremes," while Addison Powell's performance was always understated and dignified.

<<DUCKING>>

;D

LOL, Daphne. I'm glad you're so well-taken with these. I'll try to polish up the synopsis of the remainder before too long so at least you can see what happens along the way....

vampire movie that I recommend most highly is "Let's Scare Jessica To Death."  It isn't a conventional horror film, but a mysterious, haunting, and strangely lovely little film.  It's available on VHS from Paramount, so you should be able to find it at a well-stocked video store.  As far as I know, it's not on DVD (but should be).

John -- Did that one star Zsa Zsa Gabor and have a portrait of her that was dripping blood? And was there a little girl that sang about "The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out... in your stomach and out your mouth?" If that's the one I'm thinking about, it creeped me out big time when I was a kid. Haven't seen it since, but will keep an eye out for it.
