What character on the show do you associate yoursef with and why?
On a good day, Professor Stokes without all the smarts. On a bad day, Count Petofi without all the hair.

How unfortunate for your childhood, Mark, for THAT to have been your first perception of DS.

Perhaps not. Being a bit older and none the wiser when I got to see the rest of it, I think I perhaps appreciated it a bit more. ;)

But I suppose it explains so much. [supergrin]

Explain THIS, buddy....

Very much agreed, Stuart. Very concise post, and very similar to my own view of the Leviathan episodes. It was the first DS story I began watching regularly, and from the scattered prior episodes I'd seen as a kid, I had no real concept of what had been going on before. Far as I was concerned at the time, this was DS as it was meant to be. That's probably why it still has a warm place in my heart.

MB, I'd give you a pound of cure for putting in the search for new messages feature, but you're all maxed out. ;)

That's the most useful thing in here for me; I can glide in, check out the topics quickly, and then get on with business. Thanky, thanky, thanky...

Nanu, thanks for asking about my Katie. I haven't seen her of late. However, she did send me a recent photograph of herself (seen below)with a short note that said: " Hi Bob, Hope all is well. I've just been hanging around in NYC and feeling a bit blue." Poor girl misses me. I think I made a lashting impression on her.

:o That is THE worst jest I've seen since life changed from black and white to color. Woosh!  ::)

Good luck, Mark, with your pounding of the keys. Will your story be for us or for outside publication?

It's a collaboration with the editor of BEYOND THE DUST, actually. We don't have a particular market in mind for this one yet, but I agreed to do the collab because it seemed like it might be fun. The story's finished now, titled "Terror From Middle Island" (not my title). Will let you know if and when it gets sold.[/color]

I'm sure I'll be among those not enjoying the prequel, too. ;)

Actually, I plan on pounding the keys to get a new story out. No time for prequels.

Hi Debra. I just turned 44 Friday; getting closer and closer to getting that AARP discount card. Married with one grown child -- although for years I've been laboring under the misapprehension that once she got out of college, had a job, and a place of her own, we might be putting out fewer fires and spending less money.

Ha.

I think you've noticed by now that I write scary things, such as DARK SHADOWS: DREAMS OF THE DARK (along with Elizabeth Massie) from HarperCollins, among others. I've been a DS fan since I was a seven, there or abouts, so getting to write an honest-to-God DS novel was orgasmic. (Can I say that here? If not, then I'll say it was dang good.)

I was rather fond of the 91 DS, although it certainly didn't hold up to the charm of the original. Too bad it wasn't given the opportunity to continue, though, because it seemed to be hitting its stride just about the time it was cancelled. I certainly would have continued to watch it. ;)

Kuanyin -- Excellent news! Congratulations to you; it sounds like you've gotten the right person. I hope you'll be very happy and the two of you will be blessed. Best wishes!

A pound of cure for everybody! Thanks for all the very nice birthday wishes. Y'all are a special bunch of great folks and I really appreciate each of you. It's been a good day today, and I hope I can go another year without becoming senile. Some people say I have a head start.

Wait, I already said that.

Anybody seen an extra pill bottle lying around?
