If Ebay is made aware of the item quickly, they'll usually take action on illegal copies, but as you can imagine, the volume they deal with is immense, and so lot of it will certainly get through. If a studio itself has an agreement with Ebay, such as Toho -- and the studio lodges a complaint -- the auctions will get whacked with express speed.

To each his own, Vlad , but I have to agree with Nicky. In fact, whenever I play the movies soundtrack CD, I always end up playing the NoDS tracks (and the ones from HoDS that are also included in NoDS) more than I do the cuts that are strictly used in HoDS.

I agree completely. When I first saw NIGHT as a kid, I remember being somewhat disappointed that they didn't use the main DS theme, as in HOUSE. But as I watched the movie, the use of the movie theme was so varied, with each orchestration very effective for its purpose, I got to liking it very much. To this day, I still love the atmosphere it creates just listening to the CD.

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Question Regarding HoDS......

I first saw HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS at the local drive-in theater in 1970; my mom took a friend of mine and me to see it, but we didn't stay for the double feature, so I don't recall what it was with. Later, it came with MUNSTER, GO HOME, also at a drive-in.

I believe it was in 73, HOUSE and NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS played on a double bill at the movie theater, and I went on a Saturday afternoon. The place was filled to capacity with the junior-high school crowd, and they never shut up through the entire double feature. Partway through NIGHT, the theater manager interrupted the show to put on a reel that some of you might have seen: It was a stern-looking gentleman in a suit and tie--rather like everyone's school principal--who proceeded to say: "Have you ever gone to the movie theater, and instead of the great picture you came to see, all you got was this?" The sound of screaming kids rises like a hurricane, then diminishes. "This is what YOU sound like," the man tells us. He indicates that making noise in the theater is very rude, and if you are caught creating a disturbance, you will be asked to leave. "Furthermore, those asked to leave today will be refused admission to this theater in the future!"

Needless to say, the noise in the theater died for maybe 30 seconds, then was back at twice the previous volume. Fortunately, I had already seen NIGHT at the drive-in when it first came out, so I had a clue what was going on. Good thing, since there wasn't a complete line of audible dialogue through the whole thing.

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Possible Origin Of The "Rip" In Time
« on: July 27, 2003, 10:02:15 PM »
Just for my own edification, I've always had the idea that Quentin's stairway through time in 1840 established the precedent for which strange things might happen with the time stream at Collinwood. I've never attempted to embellish the idea in any form--although I alluded to it in DARK SHADOWS: THE LABYRINTH OF SOULS; heck, I never even particularly liked the idea of parallel time in DS at all from the time I first saw it as a kid. But just as a way of rationalizing the fact that something caused the phenomenon, it seemed that Quentin's initial experiments in time opened the way for the interacting of dimensions during other periods.

That doesn't mean he caused the parallel time events; one must assume those time streams simply exist. The stairway to time could merely have caused a sort of instability that allowed the different streams to occasionally intertwine.

Just a thought.

Very cool, Luciaphil. Sharp and witty, while still in keeping with the spirit of DS. Bravo!

John Yeager is absolutely the most repulsive character DS every had.

I'm sure that was the whole point.  >:D

Yeager was the only "human" antagonist in DS that ever particularly scared me as a young 'un... Bad nose and all. Thank God they got over that lil phase quickly.  :o

There are those with entirely too much time on their hands, aren't there. ;)

BTW, I need some stitchery done for my wife's birthday present. I suppose I've come to the right place...

Garsh. I've had a couple of pressing deadlines this week and haven't even had time to read much of the board. Now that I see everyone's been having fun, it's just as well. What's the blinkin' point of this "fun" business, anyway? Don't we have more depressing things to do?

But you know, if you'd like me to, I'm sure at some point in the future I could add time delays into some of the forum's scripts - particularly if you ask me nicely. PHP has its own time delay functions built into it - and if you give me enough time, I might be able to develop a few of my own.

Sit down and stop foaming at the mouth, MB. There's a nice little cubbyhole over there with your name on it where you can indulge yerself with all the bugs you want without bothering anyone else.

Speed is back to normal today, so I guess it wasn't your fault. However... I'm sure there will be plenty to blame you for in the coming days.
