Current Talk '08 I / Re: Needlessly harsh behavior by 1897 Barnabas

That's why Barnabas's character is alluring. The extremes of which he's capable make him unpredictable and therefore interesting. I would have thought less of the character if he didn't exhibit the evil side of his nature, sometimes unexpectedly. Many was the time I wished his dark side would have surfaced, rather than the ineffectual hand-wringing, which became too common.

Not directly DS-related, but if you've enjoyed DREAMS OF THE DARK or any of my other spooky fiction, you might enjoy my upcoming collection of short fiction from Dark Regions specialty press.

It's due for an April release. You can get more info, including how to order, at my Web site book page: http://www.stephenmarkrainey.com/othergods.htm

Found while searching for some details on Lyndhurst's architecture:

Don't see that every day. Well, I don't, at least.

Thanks for that, Midnite. What a pleasure to read.

I've got an old VHS of Mars, and Greystone is one of the movie's highlights. It's a pretty nifty little flick -- very low budget, but for its time, a fair psychological thriller. Very strong on atmosphere, largely due to Greystone itself.

Have a shocking new year.  [santa_cheesy]

Greystone's not a shabby little shack. I offered to buy it one time, but they wouldn't take a check, and I didn't want to put it on my credit card since the interest rate is terrible.

So what if my offer was a few million below fair market value. Real estate is a tough business these days.

Is attractive, although the red type for messages isn't easy to read for aging eyes.

Say what you will, but whatever her online charms, I have it on good authority that Midnite goes to DS events and stuffs cats into attendees' suitcases so that when they get home, they get a rude shock.

Furthermore, I understand she named her teddy bear Roger D., specifically to incite legions of DS fans to protest and grab their own hair. I find this latter behavior particularly heinous.

I know some here are concerned about the WGA strike and how it will impact TV schedules, movies, etc. While I don't have a personal stake in the WGA strike per se, as someone who writes professionally, and being an active member of the Horror Writers Association, I do have an interest in seeing the writers prevail in this situation. Just like the major corporations in Hollywood, literary publishers are beginning to insert clauses in their contracts that deprive writers of any income made on electronic/digital sales. Right now, there's virtually no money being made there, so no one's made much of a stink yet. But it will be coming, somewhere down the road.

This video is hysterical -- and pretty much says it all:

I caught the first episode of MOONLIGHT and figured it would be a goner in two weeks. Then, a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine convinced me to check it out again, and I'm glad I did. These couple of episodes, at least, were well-done, engaging enough to keep me watching. Hope it has a chance to continue, but I'm afraid it's likely to become a casualty of the strike.
