Zowie, but doesn't this board have cool toys. I think this is gonna be a fun place. Thanks a whole friggin lot, Midnite; as if this slaving-for-peanuts horror writer has time for things like fun. Keep it up and I'll make you a character in my next book.  ;D

Somebody really needs to do something about Bobubas up there. Look at the mess he's made of this place.

Vampire Hunter D really is a cool movie; excellent musical score, too. Not so much these days, but I was heavily into anime for many years, and this has always ranked as one of my favorites. Unfortunately, the English dubbed version, like most Japanese products, bites the big one. I had the original Japanese language tape way back when, and it was far more intense -- mainly because the voice actors portrayed the characters seriously. You just don't get that in virtually any English translation, as if a cartoon can't possibly warrant a serious approach.

This movie came close to making me late for my own wedding. I was showing it to several friends who'd come in from out of town on that fateful day in August 1986. No way in hell were we gonna cut Vampire Hunter D short for anything so trifling as getting hitched.

So we drove to the church very fast.

Also, perhaps a little closer to on topic -- "D" is at least partially responsible for the characterization of Thomas Rathburn in DREAMS OF THE DARK...

This is not the type of flick I would take Ms. Scott to, for her husband Ben probably do me harm. I suspect that might hold true for most flicks.  ;)

:Has anyone seen the new flick, "The Mothman Prophecies" yet? It's based on supposed true events in the town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia (NOT Point Pleasant, NJ)....

I saw it last night, and overall I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice and atmospheric, without a bunch of cheap thrills and pyrotechnic special effects. Overly ambiguous at times, and a little slow in the middle, but the climax was great. Very much like a big episode of the X-Files.

3.5 out of 5 stars, in my book.

I believe Bob Rooney rarely got to speak because the the actor's pay rate escalated substantially whenever he had lines to say. ;)
