A longtime fan, Randy Vest, sold two pieces of vintage DS memorabilia on eBay this past week. One was a letter from Louis Edmonds, written in the spring of 1971. Due to the impending cancellation of DS, Louis did not feel it was a good time to reactive his fan club. The letter is typed, with an original signature, and sold for $89.00.
The second was a handwritten letter from Clarice Blackburn, written post DS in 1971. Like Louis, she begs off on the idea of having a fan club. She apparently had one during the run of DS but it doesn't seem to have been a positive experience for her. ("Never again!"). She encourages him to watch a certain episode of Where The Heart Is, which was a pivotal episode for her. The letter sold for $393.00! This does sound kind of high but Clarice is not a common DS autograph. She only attended one festival at the Vista in NYC. She did the cast reunion, taped some interviews and that was it. She did not sign any autographs.
