Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / New! From TLATKLS
« on: April 06, 2024, 08:03:08 PM »
Kathryn Leigh Scott is selling an assortment of 1960's photos of herself taken by Ben Martin. The photos are 11x14 and come matted and autographed. Some of them are quite nice. However, the cost, $175.00, is beyond my budget for such things.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / DS photos on eBay
« on: March 27, 2024, 10:45:33 PM »
A professional photographer that I have been done business with for several years has posted a few fairly recent photos of David Selby and Lara Parker. They are 4x6. Bidding usually starts at $4.00. I have never paid more than $4.50, plus postage. He has quite a sizeable inventory and is open to requests. The seller's eBay handle is celebpix. Kindly do not bid on this Nancy Sinatra item. That's mine! If you have eBay access, check it out.

There is currently a signed index card on Ebay of Don Briscoe. Opening bid is $9,999.99. Plus $5 postage. Let's not all jump on it at once! [easter_shocked] [snow_shocked] [easter_shocked] [snow_shocked]

I realize that this is short notice but I was only asked do this late last night. I will be appearing as a guest on Melody Clark's Fan Flak broadcast. The topic is meeting celebrities, something that I've had a lot of experience doing. I've managed to have quite a few interesting experiences over the years, as well as some very funny ones. They post the shows to YouTube later, so I will post the link when I get it.
For those who don't know Melody, she is a long time DS fan and was first involved in fandom during the Shadowcon days. She also ran Grayson Hall's fan club and was particularly close to Grayson and the Hall family.

Over on Facebook, Nancy Kersey gave the DS boards a nice shout out. She said that the forum is highly recommended. I made sure to second that.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / Scary Monsters Issue #133
« on: December 31, 2023, 03:05:47 PM »
I was in my local Barnes and Noble yesterday and the new issue of Scary Monsters magazine caught my eye. There was a small photo/drawing of Nancy Barrett as vampire Carolyn in the upper left hand corner. And there's more DS content inside.
First, there's a brief but very heartfelt tribute to Lara Parker by longtime fan Janet Meehan. There's also a couple of photos of Janet's artwork of Angelique. There's also a photo of her with Lara. I certainly knew of Janet through The World Of Dark and and other publications but I don't think that our paths ever crossed.
There is also a fairly long article on House of Dark Shadows by Rod Labbe who has contributed many articles about DS to the magazine. It's largely a detailed summary of the movie. It's accompanied by a lot of stills from the movie. Nothing unusual about any of them but it's always nice to see them.
And, lastly, the back cover has a great picture of a group of 1970's vampires that includes both Barnabas and Carolyn. It's by Scott Jackson and it's quite good.

Scary Monsters has a price tag of $14.99, which is a big pricey for an impulse purchase. But it is worth a read.

TLATKLS is out on the convention circuit. Next stop is Mad Monster Party in Atlanta, Georgia on the weekend of November 17-19. It's being held at the Crowne Plaza Perimeter at Ravinia. The guest list looks interesting. I'd go if I lived in the area.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / Off Topic: Soap Opera Digest

The publishers of Soap Opera Digest have announced that they will be discontinuing the weekly print edition of the magazine in the near future. They plan to continue to post content online. And to print "special editions" several times a year.
This is sad. It's the end of an era. But it's really not all that surprising. There are only four soaps left on the air. And, with print magazines in a decline, it was probably inevitable. Which makes it no less sad.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / Michele Pfeiffer Autograph
« on: October 28, 2023, 09:22:33 PM »
I'm at Chiller Theater this weekend. One of the guests is DeDe Pfeiffer, who is Michele's sister. One of the items at her table is a photo of the two of them. It was presigned by Michele. The price was $200. A bit steep for me but considering how much these people get for a private signing, it's not that bad.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / More Kate Jackson
« on: October 16, 2023, 12:28:31 AM »
This is a follow-up to my earlier post about Kate. It seems that this is the 40th anniversary of the premiere of Scarecrow and Mrs. King. There was a convention in California for fans of the show. (I had no idea that there were conventions for the show.) Part of the activities included a visit to the studio where the series was shot. A stop was made in front of Mrs. King's house. The sixty or seventy fans were treated to a surprise appearance by Kate Jackson. She was wearing a face mask but was in very good spirits. She actually volunteered to sign autographs and pose for pictures.  Nothing like the prima donna behavior of years gone by.
There are a couple of videos that you can watch on charliesangels.com. You might have to scroll to get to them but they are quite interesting.

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / Kate Jackson News
« on: October 14, 2023, 11:54:12 PM »
There's a new book out on Kate Jackson's series Scarecrow and Mrs. King. It's written by David R. Johnson and is called The Ultimate Fan Guide To Scarecrow and Mrs. King. It offers new interviews with the cast, never before scene photos and such. So I would assume that Kate participated.
The book ain't cheap. It sells for $62.00, which is rather pricey for a paperback. Amazon is currently selling it for $32.95

Calendar Events / Announcements '24 I / Lysette Anthony Appearance
« on: September 18, 2023, 03:25:48 AM »
Lysette Anthony, who played Angelique on the NBC incarnation of Dark Shadows, will be at The Hollywood Show in Burbank, California this October 6th and 7th. She will be there with her Krull costar Ken Marshall, so it would be a good opportunity to get that Krull memorabilia signed by the two leads. If you are unable to attend, you can order an autographed picture of Lysette through the show's website for $50.00
