Calendar Events / Announcements '08 I / Unusual Autographs
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:10:58 AM »
I know most fans just get the autographed photo of their favorite stars but have any of you ever got something really unusual or strange autographed? If so what? What did the person signing say about it?

7-3 HBO PL will be showing Reversal Of Fortune.

For those that don't know it's based on a true story that Alexandra Moltke was involved in. I haven't seen the movie so I'll be watching.

We'll the real "Blue Whale" is a place in New Port R.I. called The Black Pearl. It's the place that the "Blue Whale" was modeled after and the outside of it was used in the show for the outside of "The Blue Whale". They have their own t-shirts and they are very well made, very thick for a t-shirt. I just got one in the mail. Their web-site is www.blackpearlnewport.com then go to their store if you want a shirt.

[ghost_grin] Only very hardcore DS fans, and of course Black Pearl fans would understand. [ghost_grin]

Made in 1939 Hal Roach directed this comedy/drama/suspense classic that stars Joan Bennett and Adolphe Menjou. It's about gangsters trying to stop the housekeeper's daughter and a millionaire from discovering who commented a murder. Ms. Bennett was upset at the time of the movie's release because they promoted it as if it was a "adult" film. Kinda like a "farmer's daughter" type of joke. The tag line for the movie was "5 Men Ran After "THE HOUSEKEEPER'S DAUGHTER"...Who Treated Them Like She Hadn't Oughter!!!"

I just thought some of you oughter know.

Tomorrow on The Hallmark Channel "Beauiful Dreamer" is on "Touched By An Angel". David Selby plays Lincoln in a story about Tess using the story of Lincoln & John Wilkes Booth to teach a lesson to a kid that wants to be a hit man.

I know this is really, really a reaching but Joan Bennett's family, grandfather I think, knew the Booth family. They had a connection through the theater. I haven't read it in a while but she writes about it in "The Bennett Playbill".

Calendar Events / Announcements '08 I / Dark Shadows Forums T-shirts?
« on: April 13, 2008, 06:56:01 PM »
I had the idea that if there were a "Dark Shadows Forums" t-shirt is would be very easy for use to meet each other at the fest. It could be the logo with our screen name. Maybe the powers that be here could put up a printable/downloadable logo or we could all make our own original shirts. What do you all think?

Current Talk '08 I / Early songs in The Blue Whale
« on: April 07, 2008, 10:12:35 PM »
In the first year of the show many of the songs heard in the Blue Whale were not by Robert Cobert. Can you all remember the titles and/artist who did them? I just found "What do you do with a drunken sailor" at i-tunes and downloaded it. That made me want to see how many of those early I can find. So I'd be greatful for any help that you all can give.

Calendar Events / Announcements '07 II / OT - I'm gonna be a Grandpaw!
« on: October 30, 2007, 07:14:24 PM »
I just found out. [hall2_smiley] My daughter is 3 - 5 weeks! She says that if it's a girl she is going to name her Josette! How cool is that?!?! I'm so excited. [hall_smiley] Of course she could change her mind about the name, 9 months can be a long time [hall2_cry], but I'm still excited. It's going to be great having a young kid around again.   [cheerleader] [milestone] [dancing_skeletons]

Calendar Events / Announcements '07 II / A Reggae Barnabas Collins!?!?
« on: September 24, 2007, 07:41:37 PM »
While messing around at itunes I typed in Barnabas Collins and found a reggae song about him by "The Lone Ranger". Have any of you ever heard this. It's not a bad little song. They also have a song on there called Maggie Evan's Acid by "The Missing Ringfinger".

The Dan Curtis directed "Frankenstein" is coming to DVD on Oct. 30th 2007. I;ve never seen this version of the movie. It was made in 1973 and stars Bo Sevnson,  Robert Foxworth, and Susan Strasberg. John Karlen plays Otto and provides an audio commentary with Robert Foxworth. It was made for TV and if I remember right stays fairly close to Shelley's original. I look forward to seeing it.

Some friends and I were talking the other day and the idea came up for a Dark Shadows Cruise. It would be a three day festival / cruise to Martinique. We also talked about including one of those "mystery weekends" where someone is "killed" and the guest have to find clues to discover who/what the killer is. Of course it would have to have a Dark Shadows twist.

I decided to e-mail the idea to Pansy Faye at the festival. I suggested it for the 2009 or 2010 festival. So what do you think? Is it something you all would want to do?

« on: August 15, 2007, 09:18:53 PM »
I know I am. I woke up at 2AM and haven't been able to go back to sleep. I'm leaving tonight a midnight. I live in Augusta Ga. so it's a long drive, something like 14 hours. We're going to make a few stops in D.C. to check out some things. I'm gonna have a few beers and see if they'll help me get to sleep.

Anyway, I'll see you real soon.
