Gothick, you're not greedy, just a devoted fan. I'd love to see a few of those scenes.

I think I've posted to this effect before, but I'm not really bemoaning the death of the soap opera. I used to watch a number of them; General Hospital, Ryan's Hope, Rituals (Dennis Patrick) and especially All My Children. AMC was my favorite, and I was delighted to learn that my girlfrriend, whom I later married, was a big time AMC fan. I'd given up all the others because of time constraints. We watched together for about 8 years. When our daughter was on the way up until the time she was in pre-school time was at a premium, so I said goodbye to AMC and the Boston Bruins. A few years ago we decided to try watching AMC. Adam was up to his old tricks and cheating on a young wife AGAIN. Jackson and Erica were back together but on the verge of breaking up AGAIN. I forget what Palmer was doing, but it was tricky dealings AGAIN. Mateo, who had been fighting with his overbearing and manipulative father was now doing the same thing to his younger siblings. Erica was pulling the strings on people's lives as usaual. We looked at each other and asked if we gave a damn. The answer was no. Now if the show were ending, would I go back to Pine Valley. Probably, because then we might see things shaken up a bit. As it is now, Jesse, who was dead, dead, dead, (he even came back as a ghost) is now alive.  Will Jenny be far behind?  I know people often return on soaps, ,just as they do in comics and DS, but this case was just too extreme. Unless they are willing to go out on a limb and stop playing it safe, I don't think there's much hope for soaps, and I can't say I really care.

I'm looking forward to this!  It's been great to have characters like Gregory Trask and Carl Collilns come back to life. I never thought we'd hear them again. Now we can look forward to Jenny and Beth! It's great they way you've been filling in beteween the lines of the original stories!

No clothespin needed for Blood Dance either. Lisa Richards is back, and hopefully to stay. Her character is much more interesting than either version of Sabrina. I won't discuss whether she's good, evil or in between, I'll just say she's no pushover as Sabrina was. I hope that's not considered a spoiler; I don't consider it one. The mood created by the music fits the period. I've always been in the camp that favored new music, peppered with some of Cobert's stuff. These are part of a new series. Most shows don't use the same score when a show is revived.  I really don't have much more to say about it at this point.  I was listening with the critical English teacher mode disengaged. First time through, I try to just go with the story and not think about it too much. I don't see how Quentin fans could go wrong with this one. If you're not a fan Selby, well, then you might have a problem...but I don't think there are too many of those out there in the Dark Shadows Nation.

I have been very impressed with the CDs so far.  I was pleasantly surprised by the dramatic readings. After hearing the audio dramas, I was a tad disappointed about the switch in format. I've never been a fan of audio books that are read by a single reader. I thought these would be flat and tedious at times. I was sure I'd enjoy them but not nearly as much as I would an audio drama. These are different. They are written to be like two handed plays. Told in first person, each story minimizes interaction between large numbers of characters thereby eliminating the need for the narrator to relate extended dialogs and taken on multiple roles. The setup emphasizes two characters and the dynamics and dialog between them. Sometimes, with skillful vocal work an actor can channel an absent character as Kathryn Leigh Scott did for Grayson when reading Julia's lines in Clothes of Sand.  Alec Newman was chilling in that one. The story weaved itself between Maggie's childhood and her recovery following her escape from Barnabas in 1967.  The Ghost Watcher also had Alec create a different type of character, a swashbuckling hero who may not be all that he seems to be.  Skin Walkers was a chilling account of the lost period in Quentin's life after 1897.  My personal favorite is The Path of Fate. While it's technically a dramatic reading, it's almost a full audio drama. True it's told mostly from the POV of Angelique, with Quentin as the secondary character. Both Selby and Parker create a dual role with the aid of SFX.  I found this scarier than anything done on the show.  Curse of the Pharoah is a sequel to the Leviathan story. While that period was never my favorite, the audio format works well here allowing us to create the monster that could not be shown on DS. I've yet to find one I did not like. I was surprised also by the range of the characters used. I thought they would limit themselves mostly to the main 4 used in the audio dramas. So far in addition to the regulars, they've used G Trask, Carolyn, Marie Wallace in a new role and Jenny in an upcoming release, Lisa Richards as a new character, and I'm especially looking forward to Doctor Who's Leela, Louise Jameson. I had such a crush on her when I was a kid. Who am I kidding? I STILL DO!!  I am very  thankful that Big Finish is giving us NINE CDS of new Dark Shadows this year.  If I had to choose between them and a new movie, Johnny Depp would lose. And yes, I am eagerly anticipating the movie.

I was surprised mine arrived so quickly. I thought they were sent out on the 30th. If so, that's pretty speedy for a transatlantic delivery! It's a fantastic story!

I also liked seeing the Groovy Horror Heads Ad!

I was a tad annoyed when the 30th Ann. CD came out claiming to have all the Grean DS tracks. Looking back, they may have indicated the singles. Either way, careless reading on my part or an omission on theirs, it seemed annoying to have everything except the "Shadows of the Night" version sung by Robin Grean. Now understand, I never really liked that song all that much, I just felt it was unsettling to have the collection incomplete. I could have taken the album and converted the track to MP3 myself, but that would have been a hassle. I used to do things like that routinely, but the software doesn't work well with my newer PCs. Yesterday I found MP3s of the album on a site. The URL will be pasted below. The only annoying thing is (here's where I look a gift horse in the mouth) each side was recorded as a single track. That's ok though; I have the song now and can burn it to CD where it will probably be ignored for  years.  I have to admit, even though that album was never my style of music, it was a blast from the past to hear it again.  The page also has some articles on DS. For those who do not have the first sound track album on CD, it's also there.

What did you have in mind, a playset or a model? I hated the Mego Enterprise playset. The bridge and transporter room looked nothing like the sets on the show. If they did a mockup of the foyer and drawing room, it would be fairly expensive. I'd settle for a realistic model of the exterior.

I've yet to be disappointed by any of the CDs. Blood Dance arrived today, and of course; I dropped everything and listened! As usual it did not disappoint. It was great to hear Lisa Richards again. Did anyone else get their copies?

Actually, I thought I'd heard Selby and Richards were being interviewed, but so far that's not been the case. It's still an interesting insight into the audio series. I probably should have listened before I posted, but it was getting late so I thought I'd get the word out ASAP.

Big Finish has posted its podcast with David Selby and Lisa Richards, to promote Blood Dance. I've not listened yet, but I'm expecting it to be intriguing. www.bigfinish.com

We share the same birthday. He used it in two of the DS audios. The Book of Temptation has an entry that's dated April 16, 1926 and I think it was the fire mentioned in The Rage Beneath that burned on the same date in the 1700s.  That was strange for me.
