I got a bootleg about a week after it opened.  I live near the Mexican border.  I will also add that a student gavevit to me knowing I am a fan.  The quality is good, for a boot, with very clear audio and decent picture.  I have been to the theater 10 times to see it, so Burton and Depp have no cause for complaint.  This number of viewings was inflated by the tedium of summer vacation in HOT HOT South Texas.  I was not needed for summer school and had a great deal of free time. That is by far the most times I have ever seen a film in a theater.

Do they still do pay per view first?

It's interesting to note that Moonrise Kingdom was filmed in Newport, RI.  We are in Newport now and plan to see it at the historic Jane Pickens Theater.   As a teen I almost convinced the owner to show HODS.  He thought it had been filmed in Newport. I did not lie but also did not correct him.  The print was not available when he needed it and that was that.

The question of whether or not it is a flop depends upon how much it makes versus how much it cost to produce it.  Our information regarding the latter has been inconclusive at best.

I found the Rumford theater on Fandango.  It's at 60 Newport Ave.(which might also be Route 1?).  It's a ten screen building right on the RIPTA Bus line.  The price was dine, but the effort expended to get from Newport to the theater made me regret making the trip for such a poor copy of the film.

$1.99?  At the cheapie theater, and it wasn't digital?  And I paid 99 cents and saw it digitally with The Hunger Games, also in digital?  My goodness, but you fancy people need to come here, like I said, to Bugtussle.

I hope no one in South Texas sees this post!! I'm constantly going on and on about how great Rhode Island is. The cheapie theaters in Weslaco, Harlingen, McAllen, Pharr, and Brownsville are all showing it digitally in its second run!

I went to see DS at a 2nd run in Rumford, RI today.  The sound was HORRIBLE and the picture was not much better.  I'd only seen pristine digital presentations before this and assumed that was the norm.  But it was only $1.99, so I guess I can't complain.

Apparently the three DS stars are going to be in a movie together, with Jerry Lacy starring as the title character.  Apparently, the person who wrote the article below was unaware that Jerry was in DS! There is an entry for this film on IMDB.com as well.

OK, I read some previous posts and discovered Fandango. DS is playing in some of the areas I mentioned. It's not in the Newport County area, but if you are willing to drive a bit, you can see it in the Providence area. Dallas has quite a few theaters showing it and so does Houston.

If I can believe the official website, there are no more theaters in Houston showing DS. I went one last time yesterday (my 9th). I doubt I'll be able to catch it in any second run theaters. I'm going Newport RI on the 25th. South Texas has a ton of second run theaters, but I don't know of any near Newport, and I'll be relying on public transportation. It's also not playing anywhere in RI (or at least no where in the Newport or Providence area). It's still showing in 2 theaters in Boston.

I hope we can read the original draft by August.  I'm curious about it.  I have a feeling that Carolyn was originally an adult and those werewolf conceit pictures were based on that idea.

I think we would have heard if a video game was being released.  I'm disappointed in the lack of licensing associated with this film.I had hoped for a tie-in at least, if not a series of books.  Lost in Space was a flop, but there were about 6 teen novellas and one adult novel, in addition to the script adaptation. I believe there were comics too.

8 in Houston.  We are going there next Thursday. I might hit the 10:15 show if the 7 hour drive doesn't wipe us out.

I planned to see it ONE more time today before it left our area.  I went to the 12:30 show.  After it was over I had time to kill.  I decided to hit the final show in Harlingen, the 3:10.  That's a first for me, seeing the same movie twice in one day at a theater!  I need a life!  I admit that freely!

The official site now lists DS for next week in several RI locations, including Middletown, the nearest major, mainstream movie theater to Newport, since the Opera House closed. I'm not going to bother rechecking Boston, Dallas, and other major cities. I'm sure it's still alive in them.
