I'm glad DS was nominated, but I doubt it will win. I think the inconsistent tone might work against it. It's a horror film, sort of. It's also a comedy, sort of.  It's a romance....  I wonder if it will be enough of a horror film to actually take home the prize.

For me the length of time is also the major barrier. I'd consider  a cruise like that if it were in the summer. Being a teacher, I simply cannot take that much time off. I do pop off for long weekends from time to time but this would mean more than a week. I wish everyone well and hope they all have a wonderful time.

My vote for HODS is subject to change, should we ever get to see the uncut version of NODS.

Big Finish has announced that there will be seven more DS CDs for this coming year. Alas, there's no mention of a full cast follow up to Kingdom of the Dead   [snowball]

As of right now, Big Finish does not have any entries for DS on their calendars in Vortex or on their site. That does not necessarily mean there won't be any releases in those months.  Let's say they have a title called Project XYZ, and as of now there are no releases planned for June. It's quite possible that next month, after work is done on Project XYZ-The Next Adventure, that title could be added to June's anticipated releases. In their news item on DS there was a promise of more information soon on releases for 2013.

If I were in charge, I'd start small with a once a week series.  Then I'd try to market to Lifetime or something. If it was a hit, I'd expand and make 2 or 3 episodes a week working up to a full schedule if the demand warranted it. I stopped watchig AMC years ago, but I might have considered going back if it had gravitated to prime time.

I have a sneaking suspicion that WB wants to sell NODS twice. If this version is successful, I suspect they will follow it up with the restored cut. Look at Watchmen. It was followed by the DIRECTOR'S CUT. I got suckered into buying that, because that was checkmated by THE ULITMATE CUT. There have been other examples of this sort of maneuvering to get people to buy multiple copies of movies. I might be naive and overly hopeful with regard to this matter, but I can't help but suspect that greed is at work here.

Levitt and Gully McGrath both play Lincoln's sons.  Both actors who played David Collins have scenes together.

One thing I've noticed, having bought both the DVD and Blu-ray versions of these movies, is there's not a whole lot of difference between the Blu-ray and the DVD when it's played on a Blu-ray player. When I play the DVD on the standard DVD player, the difference is like night and day. The colors are much more vibrant, the detail is profoundly sharper. I put the DVD on pause and did the same for the Blu-ray, then switched inputs to compare several times. I was unable to do the same with the when comparing the DVD on a Blu-ray player; I only have one of those players. Still, I paused at the same point and then removed the disk and replaced it with the Bu-ray disk. I did not percieve much, if any difference. It may be that my eyes are not sharp enough to pick up finer detail. It's also possible if I stared at them long enough side by side that I'd eventually notice an improved image on the Blu-ray. Be that as it may, the experiment has put to rest any concerns that I have over idea that my DVD collection has become obsolete and outdated.

In case anyone is wondering, I bought both versions because I was planning to get a Blu-ray player when I placed the order. I wanted DVD copies because I know I'm going to want to bring them to other people's houses to watch. I sometimes use HODS when I teach Dracula. Having the students compare and find counterparts for characters in the novel is an activity they enjoy.

Lincoln's sons were played by two David's-Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gulliver McGrath. Jack Earle Haley also had a small role.

I was thinking along the same lines as Gerard. I am a teacher; there's no way I can take that much time off for a cruise. If it were at a more convenient time, I'd consider it. I would not be happy about the destination. Bermuda is beautiful in the summer. I don't think that you'd see optimal weather in Oct/Nov. Since the island is on the same latitude as NC, the temp will probably be in the 70s and possibly rainy.  But the cost is low. I know people are gasping at the price, but that's really fairly reasonable. Just keep in mind, if you drink alcohol, that's extra and it can be pricey.

I have not watched this show because I hate season cliffhangers. Did Season One end pretty much self-contained?  I know it switches locales, so I figured it might be safe to watch the first season.
