Netflix has 160 eps starting with 210 and ending in the first week of 1795, essentially all of early Barnabas.

Current Talk '13 I / Re: Disturbing DS Episodes

As an adult I found the episode in which Miranda quotes Judah Zachary saying "God is dead! Long live Lucifer!" both chilling and powerful. If it had been a DS motion picture it would not have had the same power, but knowing the strict TV restraints, it gave a chilling realism to the moment. TV is a less is more medium. Previously the villains on DS had danced around the name of their master. Using the name  made it a tad chiling for me.

When I was a kid I was not allowed to watch DS. I'm going to recount two "episodes" exactly as I remember them. I've seen the show since and now realize my memory is faulty. We tend to reconstruct events in our minds, often filling in gaps with erroneous data.

Memory 1-"Quentin" was chained to a wall after claiming he's not a werewolf. His hand changes and he rages against the chains trying to get out. The screams were hellish.
Memory 2-David finds a noose and is playing with it. It puts itself around his neck and he's slowly being strangled.

I think most of you will recognize the fractured plot points that were the genesis of these faulty memories. I still snuck glimpses whenever I could, but I payed for them at night.

b.t.w. is anybody here actually attending "the cruise"?

I haven't heard a peep about it in weeks and it must be coming up. [easter_undecided]

I wouldn't attach too much significance to any lack of buzz about the cruise yet. I'd assume it's been back-burnered until the LA event is over. It will be interesting to see what comes up in the next few months though. I wish them well with it; if it weren't be held at an impossible time for me, I'd be on it.

I was not allowed to watch DS in its original run. I  used to sneak glimpses, but I was not aware it was gone until the fall of '71.  One day I wondered where it was.

I had a similar experince though in April of '76. DS had been syndicated on WLVI TV 56, Boston. It had run 260 episodes and...ended... Later the Boston Globe or the Boston Herald had answered a question in their TV Listings. They'd mentioned that World Vision had pulled DS from syndication. The last thing they wrote was, "back to that coffin, Barnabas". I thought I'd never see it again.

Never mind. I got my answer in a scene a little bit later on.

Current Talk '13 I / Night of Dark Shadows Question
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:02:38 AM »
I've been reading the script for this film. I'd always assumed that the figure glimpsed by Quentin and Alex in the greenhouse was Angelique. However the description describes her as a "girl". Does anyone know if this was Angelique or Sarah?

I'm sure I would never have recognized Miss Larkins if she had appeared at an event I attended.

If she did attend the Manhattan Shadows I wouldn't have known her either. At the time, all I knew were the 260 episodes in syndication. The person who told me she'd shown up mentioned that Barnabas bit her in 1795.

i was at both the 1st d.s. festival and the 1st manhattan shadows. i dont recall seeing audrey larkin.
I didn't either. I heard she popped in, looked around, chatted with Jonathan and left. Apparently she was just in the area, saw the flyer and stayed a few minutes. Several people told me this, but I don't know any of them, so I'm not sure if this was just a rumor.

The first festival was in beautiful downtown Newark at the Gateway Hilton (referred to as the Gateway Hilton to hell by some). It was a very small gathering. I think it was just 100 fans in attendance. There were several guests announced, including Donna Wandrey and Lara Parker, but the only one who actually attended was Ron Sproat.
I was there and audiotaped Sproat's talk. The week before was Manhattan Shadows with Jonathan Frid, Joel Crothers, and Addison Powell. Supposedly Audrey Larkin popped in very briefly, but I've never heard if this was absolutely confirmed. I also audiotaped the Manhattan Shadows Panels.
