Dear interfilmartentertainment,HelloEpisode 1219 is missing from the DS llibrary.  Did you count these cannisters? If there are 1225 as you mentioned in your post, then you have an episode that's considered lost. I think you might be able to get more money from MPI or Dan Curtis Productions if you take it to them. I have a link to the reconstruction of the ep to check against whatever may be in a cannister labled 1219.  If you have any questions, please contact me. I'm trying not to get too excited about this. Best wishes,Joe - cmcviefan

And here is his answer.

Dear cmcviefan,Joe,yes I have that episode as well.  I once offered prints to MPI but they said they have everything and don't need anything.  I'll wait and see what happens.- interfilmartentertainment

What do you all think?

So, could someone help me out w/buying it via DS Fest?? (Not exactly sure what this means....)

I'm assuming it means that you'll buy it as a mail order item like the calendars and other merchandise sold by the DS Festivals.

Great!!! Thanks, David!

It would be nice to see the first film!  Of course it came no where near South Texas, and I can't find hide nor hair of it on DVD.

This is slightly off topic since it deals with vampires instead of witches, but Exeter RI had a vampire scare in 1892. http://strangene.com/cemeteries/vampire.htm
The incident also highlights the vast differences between rural and urban areas. About 20 miles away, you had modern Providence, RI. When I researched this years ago, it was not made clear whether Providence had electricity or phone service. If they didn't, these modern marvels were less than a decade away (depends on who I spoke to). When the Providence Journal reported the story, the residents were mortified, to say the least. In fact, the incident led to a law requiring a medical examiner to certifythat a body was dead before it could be buried. Just to highlight how relatively recent this incident was, I spoke to a man whose father was living in Exeter at the time. He tried to downplay the whole thing, claiming that it was just a few "hooligans" who got carried away.

Current Talk '13 II / Re: weird DS dream
« on: October 13, 2013, 09:25:52 PM »
When I dream about the show it's usually about me finding books that I didn't know existed. I've not had them in a while. I think the Big Finish series is filling the desire for them. In my dreams I'd find a book that did not fit the "Barnabas, Quentin, and the Scooby Doo Monster of the Month."  I remember one vividly, Nicholas Blair was on the cover, and it was about his origin. I was surprised Barnabas was not in the book at all. How I knew this is a mystery. I didn't read the blurb on the back or flip through the pages. I just knew. Then I rifled through more books and found about a dozen more, each about different, and relatively obscure, DS characters. Now that I think about it, that's kind of like the Big Finish Series. The full cast dramas have the "traditional" core characters, Barnabas, Quentin, and Angelique. The dramatic readings though, are as likely to be about characters like Charity, Amanda, and even new characters.

Current Talk '13 II / DS on Netflix
« on: October 12, 2013, 02:58:39 PM »
I just noticed that nearly the entire run of DS is available on Netflix (everything from 209 on). The last time I checked, a few months ago, they only had 4 collections.  That's still all that's available for streaming thogh. It would be nice to get the entire run up online. It's a convenient way for me to watch when I'm out of town.

i think i might be more likely to consider the audio series, if not necessarily canonical, but at least part of an "ongoing story" if the forty-odd year span of time between the series' conclusion in 1971 and the present was taken into account. sort of an updated story about what these characters were doing "today"...

I hadn't really thought of it that way until recently. To me, their voices hadn't seemed to age that much in the beginning. Lately though, many of them are even starting to sound old to me.

I don't really have an ear for that sort of thing though. For example, many people complain that Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor, sounds a lot older. He sounds pretty much the same to me.

I can see how that would be jarring though. In the case of Selby, they don't really have a choice. His character is ageless.

I think you'd have to call most of the projects remakes. With the exception of the audio series, the Innovation comic, and perhaps the current comic series (I'm behind on that), all the other licensing has totally ignored what was on the show.

Whether you want to consider the audio series canonical or not, it has attempted to remain faithful to what we saw on TV.  Have there been errors and gaffes? Yes, but the OS couldn't even remain faithful to its own canon. Look at the contradictory origins of Angelique and Barnabas.

The Innovation comic actually filled in a gap left within the 91 series continuity, fitting betwen the 3rd and 4th hour of the show.

No matter how hard you try, you can't fit any of the other projects into continuity. They all start from scratch and remake the OS. I suppose you can count Night of Dark Shadows as an exception. It does loosely adapt the PT story, but it's no more a remake than the Gerard ghost story was a remake of the Quentin one.

I suppose, in the end, David's suggestion that they are all imaginary tales of what might have been makes sense. Let's face it, they're all imaginary tales! Unless of course you want to suggest there really is a town of Collinsport and we just can't find it on the map.

IMDB lists them both in a series called Arrest and Trial in an epislode entitled "Onward and Upward," but their roles seem to have been fairly minor.

What distinguishes the audio series is their efforts to remain faithful to the original series. That coupled with the fact that they are using original series cast members convinces me that it should be considered canon. Many people dismiss it because it's "simply audio." If that's the case, Guiding Light fans need to ignore decades of radio eps that came before the TV series. Like Star Trek the Next Generation, I see it as a legitimate continuation of the show.

If you look at the slate for episode 1, I believe it says "take 4."  I wondered if she blew the line, and they retaped it. I have a feeling they had more latitude to get things right on the first day to set a good impression with the audience.

I selected HODS over NODS only because I've not seen the 129 min cut of the latter. Both films suffered from severe editing, but I think HODS came out of that process stronger.

From what I gather, they are contending for the award in the category of audio performances. I guess BF snagged all the nominations. Nice position for them to be in!
