We need to keep in mind the distinction between political jurisdiction and geographical location.  Collinsport was always geographically located in a place that is part of the current jurisdictional area called Maine.  It was never in a place that is part of the current jurisdictional area called Massachusetts.

It's made quite clear from the beginning that it's Maine. Victoria is a farily short bus ride from Bangor. They mention Maine many times throughout the series and rarely mention MA.  Boston is referred to far more often.I can only recall the name MA being mentioned one time in 1795.

it should be noted that by the time a more traditional "sequel" to HODS could be filmed KLS would also have been departed from the scene (she left the company shortly after the HODS filming and did not appear in NODS). so any story set in 1795 would have meant a recast for Josette???
If they were going to recast Josette, I'd think Kate Jackson would have worked as well as anyone. I'd rather have seen her than a newbie. Joanna Going would have been 8 at the time LOL.

The Doctor, I just finished reading your - can I call it? - "Reader's Digest Condensced Version" of your novel adaptation of NoDS and it was brilliant!  And, yes, you did reference what happened to the characters from HoDS making it a direct sequel!  Wonderful!  It was superior to anything "Marilyn Ross" would've prosed.
Gerard, THANK YOU FOR THE HIGH PRAISE! You know, I wanted it to be a novel length work, but it kept working out to NOT be that. I really did not want this to be too subjective on my part. I wanted to try to adapt the script by injecting as little creativity as possible. This may seem like a paradox; it is a creative work, how can you not be creative? What i mean here is, I tried to only put in what's in the script. There were a few places where it screamed for more detail, but I didn't want to get too much into the character's heads. This is meant to be a direct adaptation of the script. Now in terms of the length, this is how I finally decided not to artificially inflate it into a "novel."  James Blish and other writers used to adapt TV show scripts into books. A Blish Trek book had about 6 (5-8 I think with 6 being the most common) scripts into one book. NODS at 129 min would have been about 2 and a half Trek episodes. My work is just about right for that.

I'd love for someone else to get more creative and do their own adaptation with more internal dialog and psychogical analysis. As I said earlier, I might expand this work with prequel stories someday. This could be an individual or a group project.

I am looking at Dark Shadows Year One from Dyanmite Comics as the prequel to HODS, even though it's probably too long to have been a movie.

You could flesh so much out, such as what happened from the end of HoDS and the death of Elizabeth and why Quentin ended up inheriting it all, the characters of Alex and Claire, why Carlotta remains and where she came from (regarding Mrs. Johnson), what's the relationship between Quentin, Tracy, Alex and Claire, on and on.  Let your creative juices flow.  Make it a direct sequel to HoDS, rather than an "alternative universe" DS thing.  That would make it even more interesting.  What happened to David?  To Maggie and Jeff?    Oh, you'd have so much fun!
Gerard, I did make it a direct sequel to HODS, but I made very subtle references. The truck in the burial scene (one of the few scenes I added) was owned by the caretaker, Loomis. Oblique references to the troubled times were meant to refer to HODS. I gave two possible fates for David. He either went to live with his governess (as told by the lawyer, I believe) OR he met a tragic fate if you believe the denizens of the Blue Whale. There's been so much fanfic about the fate of those characters, I did not want to favor one over the other. The mention of the books Carolyn read as a child was taken from DS. It was intended to be a sequel to HODS. However, I am toying with the idea of a fanfic anthology surrounding DS. Some of it could be written by me, some by others, with me as editor, making sure it fits a cohesive whole. Maybe someday I'll do that!!

The best part of the festival was sitting in the Double Tree lobby after hours talking to "Professor Stokes" and other fans.  It was great catching up with old friends and making some new ones.

I posted a prose adaptation of the movie, using the entire shooting script. The work is complete and can be found here. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10083233/1/Night-of-Dark-Shadows

Trask was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character's debut was in Uncanny X-Men #14, November, 1965.

Has it ended yet? If so, was it resolved or did it end on a cliffhanger?  If it has an ending I plan to watch it.

Terrayne left the show during 1897 to do a movie ("Sam's Song" AKA reedited as "The Swap" and commercials. She was let out of her contract with the understanding that she would return when she could to fill out a couple of episodes still left on the agreement. She was called back for 1840 and was available. I can't recall all of what she told me but that's the gist of it. I'm under the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that she really did not want to return full time.

Never mind my comment about the Sunday strips being in color. I didn't notice the link to "read more." This is exciting news!

Let's hope that the Sunday strips will be in color! I have the first 36 and offered them on this board a few years ago. I've never seen color copies of the last two stories.

I'm watching the 1967 Laura storyline. Does anyone else find Dr. Guthrie annoying?
I love the storyline and Diana Millay as Laura, but that guy is a bad actor with a nasal voice!

I've seen him in other things and found him to be a decent actor, not brilliant, but not bad at all. I think the lack of rehearsal and multiple takes hurt him on DS. Some people can take that grind and some can'tl

and the reason anybody would pay $60.00 for a (unautographed) of abe vigoda is? [snow_huh] [snow_huh] [snow_huh]

and what's he doing at 'chiller'? I thought that was horror stuff.
I know several huge fans of The Godfather who would. I imagine he still has a small but very loyal following from Barney Miller/Fish as well. He probably will not sign autographs because of arthritis. That's just speculation.

Michael C. brought up some very good points I'd forgotten. It was foreshadowed and obviously the intent of the writers was that it was an accident. Of course, Barnabas could have feigned surprise, but now the crash doesn't seem quite as random as it did before.
