Doc, how do I d/l an audio book onto my phone (using Audible), or, do I need a different app to be able to listen?

LOL I have no idea. My phone is ancient. It has a retractable keyboard and very basic internet functions. Does anyone else know?

OK soapbox side comment. It's very sad that an expensive piece of electronics is "ancient" when it was state of the art about 5 years ago! How many phones end up in landfills every year? End of rant.

I remember reading in Grayson Hall's fan club newsletter that a couple of the Marilyn Ross DS paperbacks were available as talking books. One of them was Barnabas, Quentin and The Serpent. I don't remember what the other titles were. I don't have any other information on them, no idea who produced them or who did the readings. I don't think I've ever seen a physical copy of any. So, if any should turn up, they would be true collectors' items.

I wonder if she was referring to audio books for the blind that were recorded by volunteers and were not official products sold by a publisher.

I made a comment about IMDb not listing Blair Brown's role. The review that was posted reveals that she was Mina. It was obvious as well when I finally watched it last night.

Harker, Dan MacDonald, was in Strange Paradise as the Reverend Matt Dawson.

In the novel there is no portrait of Dracula hanging in the castle. The inclusion of a young Dracula in armor apparently suggests to Harker that the subject of the painting is the ancestor of the Count rather than Dracula himself. I can only conclude that this is influenced by DS.

According to IMDb, Blair Brown is in it. It doesn't say who she's playing though, which is odd.

Who in their right mind would pay the asking price?! Though I do see where someone bid $25.00, which is considerably lower, to say the least.  [santa_wink]
I'd forgotten about the option to bid a lower amount than the Buy It Now price.

Go on YouTube and type in audio books along with some other search terms. You'll probably find some there. As for the guy who is asking you to pay for links to free audio, he's probably trying to sell you access to stuff from LibriVox, a free service. They record audio books of public domain works. Here's a link. https://librivox.org/

I thought I'd seen just about everything with regard to DS collectibles. How much are 7 Ross paperbacks worth? Oh and we're not even talking #s25-32. Nope, "Barnabas, Quentin, and the Vampire Beauty" is not part of the deal. Nor is "Barnabas, Quentin, and the Hidden Tomb". Someone is hoping to auction of the first 6 books and the 8th one for TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. That's not a "Buy It Now," price. That's a starting bid. And of course the buyer pays shipping. It's ironic. I just bought "Dark Shadows-Dreams of the Dark" today as a gift. It cost me less than four bucks, shipping included from another eBay seller. I'm wondering if anyone is mad enough to pay that kind of money. The seller does mention that it's to benefit spaying and neutering of animals, but I'd be skeptical. If I had two and a half grand to throw around, I don't think I'd pay it to this person and trust that the money gets donated. It'll be interesting to see if anyone bites on this one.

I believe Stoker said that Dracula needed to rest in his coffin, but did not mean he had to be there all day. If I recall correctly he could rise at certain times but with his powers reduced. If I think of it later I'll try to find the passage I'm thinking of. It's possible though that I'm remembering something someone else wrote. It's been a while since I read the novel.

"Vampirology" is fluid.  In Dracula, the Count could not enter a home unless invited.  Of course, Bram Stoker broke these rules throughout his novel.
When did Stoker break that rule? When he attacked Mina, they were in Seward's house and the Count got permission from Renfield to come in. I think they made mention of the fact that the sanitarium was attached to the house extended Renfield's permission. I don't recall him entering any other houses, but I've not read the novel in a very long time.

The books she's missing should not be very expensive at all, if she shops around a bit. Pricing Demon at almost $200 is insane. You can get it on EBay for under ten. That's including the shipping.

Amazon offered this book again this summer with an October release. I later saw that Hermes had a December release on their page now it's January. Hopefully it will come out.

I think I remember hearing somewhere that it was Poseidon. Does anyone know for sure?
